BU holds Syllabi WritingWorkshop for BUCM

A syllabi writing workshop was held at the Coastal View Resort, Sto. Domingo, Albay on April 17 to 19 to develope syllabi for the medicine courses to be offered. Consultants Dr. Ruben N. Caragay and Dr. Teresa L. Yap presented the curriculum earlier crafted for the college. They were joined by Dr. Nemuel Fajutagana of UP Medicine who talked about developing course contents.

The opening of the College of Medicine can no longer be denied as Bicol University administrators and

prospective faculty continue to prepare for it in all aspects of operation.

Workshops included identification of course competencies and the development of course content, outputs of which were necessarily syllabi that identified intended learning outcomes, content and sequence, teaching-learning activities, time frame, student evaluation and resources. The BU College of Medicine is expected to be in full swing in June of 2014.

formalizing a partnership where the university will provide faculty and staff necessary to conduct classes for PNP personnel who will enrol for the Master of Arts in Peace and Security Studies (MAPSS) program at the BU Graduate School. According to the MOA, the partnership was made in response to PNP’s need “to upgrade the competencies of its personnel to uplift the quality of services they can offer to the community and to the country.” The university, for its

part, is able to fulfill its goal of offering graduate programs that consider requirements for continuing development of professionals in different fields of specialization, thereby becoming responsive and relevant to the needs of the community it serves. It is to be noted that BU has an existing Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the PNP for offering Peace and Security Studies programs in Camp Crame, Quezon City. Since the start of the program last summer, there are 24 students enrolled in MAPSS.###
