5 Introduction

5.1 About the water heaterThe BTL water heater is intended for heatingwater for sanitary purposes.

The BTL is a gas–fired storage water heater. Theflue gasses transfer their heat to the water

c

through an heat exchanger. The water heater hasan open flue gas discharge connection.

5.2 Working principleCold water enters the tank through the waterinlet (1). When the water temperature dropsbeneath the set temperature, the gas supply tothe main burners is opened automatically andthe water is heated. A heat exchanger (3)transfers the heat from the flue gasses to thewater and the hot water leaves the tank throughthe water outlet (2).

The tank of the water heater has to becompletely filled during operation. The tank atleast must remain under mains water supplypressure at any time. Fresh cold water isimmediately added when hot water is drawnfrom the water heater. A temperature sensormeasures the water temperature.
