1. Introduction
The final year project is one of the most important aspects of your
engineering degree. To see why, let’s look at a definition of
engineering, taken from the IEEE.
“Engineering is that profession in which knowledge of the
mathematical, computational, and natural sciences gained by study,
experience, and practice is applied with judgment to develop
economically effective use of matter, energy, and information to the
benefit of humankind.”
Engineering is first and foremost the application of knowledge.
However, the application must be carried out with judgment, to
ensure that the resultant system is effective and efficient, and that it
is of benefit (which raises the issue of the ethical responsibilities of
engineers – a topic for another day). The final year project is one of
the primary mechanisms used by the College to provide you with an
opportunity to gain experience in the practical, effective, efficient,
and beneficial application of what you have been studying for the
past several years. Naturally, you will continue to gain engineering
experience after you graduate but the final year project will be your
first exposure to the full rigour of engineering practice. It is essential
that you learn from this exposure and practice all of the engineering
methodologies involved. It is particularly important that you learn
not just to apply what you know, but to apply it with judgment, with
the ability to assess what you are doing and to be critical of it. There
is another reason why your final year project is so important: it will
inevitably be used as a discriminator to decide how good an
engineering student you are. A "FINAL YEAR
PROJECT” is an essential part of the engineering
degrees and all students must satisfy this requirement." Projects

that simply set out to repeat someone else's work are
unimpressive unless they incorporate some new aspect or adopt a
different approach.

2. Objectives
It is the part of the curriculum that allows you to specialize in a
topic you are good at or enjoy.
It allows you to show-off a wide range of the skills and
knowledge learned during your course. This is a great
opportunity to put into practice all the skills you have developed
on your course and to really show the world what you can do.
An engineering project is one that involves practical work to
solve a problem in the field of information systems.
It gives the student a kind of orientation towards research and
development activities in a particular area.
Projects typically involve taking an engineering approach to the
design and development of a software system that fulfils a
practical need.
To equip the student with knowledge of how to be an
entrepreneur to start their own company/industry.
Projects also often form an important focus for discussion that
prospective employers will most likely ask you about at
interview.

5. GUIDELINES
5.1 Rules
1) Students are advised to choose an area of their interest for the purpose of doing project work.
2) The minimum number of students allowed for a project is ‘1’ and the maximum number is ‘2’.
3) The students have to do the project work in the college working with their respective allotted guides or from reputed organizations which are approved by PRC.
4) The students are advised to do literature survey by collecting the information regarding the required material like text books, reference books, websites, and concerned journal papers from their respective guides.
5) After the allotment of the project, students have to meet their guides and submit a letter of registration duly signed with their allotted guides, failing which the students will not be allowed for project work in this semester/year.
6) The attendance for the project work will be given from the date of registration as per JNTU regulation (15 hrs/week).
7) The role of each team member should be clearly defined while submitting the synopsis of each seminar.
8) Students have to maintain a dairy/observation book for his day to day work and should get it signed weekly by guide discussing the progress in the work which will be considered for the attendance.
9) A consolidated weekly status report is to be submitted by every student to the guide indicating the progress in the work. The weekly status report should be signed by the guide as well as HoD. Weekly Status Reports should be as per the given guidelines.
10) Each student is required to give 4 seminars during the course of the project work as per schedule.
11) All seminars should be given using power point. The students have to submit synopsis copy as per the guidelines and copy of manuscript of the respective chapters two days prior to the date of presentation of the seminar. They should submit the hard and soft copy (C.D.) of PPT at the time of presentation.

12) The first seminar should be given after the allotment of the project as per the schedule, giving the overview of the work to be carried out in the form of an abstract. This abstract must be submitted along with (Extra Thick office file).
13) The student who is absent for two seminars of the Project Evaluation without proper prior permission and a genuine proof for absence, will not be permitted to attend END SEMISTER EVALUATION. Such student should re-register for the project work in the next academic year. If a student obtains prior permission from respective guide, student will be given a chance of ONE WEEK to give seminar with 10 marks deduction in INTERNAL EVALUATION.
14) If his seminar is rejected/cancelled he will be given a re-seminar date by the HoD, guide. If his seminar for second time also gets rejected he is not permitted to continue his project work.
15) The second seminar should be given explaining the hardware and software requirements of the project. Mention the functional and non-functional requirements in brief.
16) Prepare a list of application software, case tools, simulators, GUI data bases, visualization and graphic support.
17) The third seminar should be given indicating the progress in the work, explaining implementation procedures to be followed with UML diagrams/Circuit diagram along with photos/demonstration of the working models being developed.
18) The fourth seminar should be given at the time of submission of the manuscript, about the total project work done. During this seminar, student has to clearly show the results of the project (working models/working software).
19) A certificate will be issued to all the students who successfully complete the project work within the campus as per the given guidelines.
20) One best project will be selected from each section and a certificate of appreciation will be issued to the students who carried out such project. The PRC will identify the best project.

5.2. Identification of Project
Given that you are going to spend a lot of time working on your
project, it is essential that you pick a project which you like and
which you are capable of doing. Note that these are not
necessarily the same things: just because you like a particular
project doesn’t mean you are qualified to do it. You may not have
taken all of the requisite courses or it may be a more
theoretically-aligned project whereas you might be a more
practically-oriented engineering student (or vice versa). Think
long and hard before making your final choice. At the very least,
you should take the following steps in assessing and choosing an
appropriate topic.
1. Find out what are your options.
2. A list of projects proposed by academic staff will be distributed
to you.
You should:
a) Read all the descriptions
b) Identify the ones that interest you
c) Read them again
3. Make a short-list of three projects (identified by
faculty/Industry).
4. Submit your proposal to the Project coordinator
5. Your selections will now be reviewed by the project review
committee (PRC).
6. The list of allocated projects will be displayed within one week
after submission of your proposal.

5.3 Synopsis Writing
Explain the relevance and importance of the project:
a) Write a brief introduction of the project explaining its relevance and importance.
b) Briefly mention why this project, what exist now, what is require and what would be realized as end product.
c) Mention briefly about technology, models, processes, testing, expected performance and limitations.
d) Write about the usages and benefits.

5.4 Software Requirements Specification (SRS)
The software requirements must evolve and culminate the following:
1. The understanding of over system functioning.
2. The identification of all standalone or separable functions that may be accomplished as subsystem level task.
3. Identify technologies and group then in to tasks they are to perform.
4. Identify the critical technologies if any?
5. Conceptualize an over all system level block schematic indicating all identified subsystems and their input/ output nee.
6. Indicate of over all system functionality considering the subsystems level tasks.
7. Prepare a list of hardware systems, peripheral devices, interfaces, displays, computing and network environment.
8. Prepare a list of software, operating systems, compilers, assemblers, interpreters, loaders, drivers, language support.
9. Prepare a list of application software, case tools, simulators, GUI, databases, visualization and graphics support.
10. Listing of buyer’s specifications of the hardware including peripheral devices interfaces even if they are not required to buy but used.
11. Listing of I/O specification of the software packages even if they are not required to buy but used.
12. Listing of test data at the inputs, type of tests to be performed during development and the making of the subsystems, and tests required during runtime or execution.

5.5 Detailed Design
A Design specifies the structure of how a software system will be written and function, without actually writing the complete implementation
a) a transition from "what" the system must do, to "how" the system will do it
b) What classes will we need to implement a system that meets our requirements?
c) What fields and methods will each class have?d) How will the classes interact with each other?

3. Usability Testing Tool

Synopsis: Develop a framework for User Interface Evaluation. Define an ontology for this framework with certain number of factors like accessibility, usability etc. Simple usability testing is not adequate for evaluating user interfaces. The problems with user interface designs are to be explored and a set of criteria for evaluating User interface designs must be identified. 4. A Routing-Driven Elliptic Curve Cryptography Based Key Management Scheme for Heterogeneous Sensor Networks
Faculty Guide: Mrs. A. Sridevi
Synopsis: In an olden research on sensor network security mainly considers homogeneous sensor networks, where all sensor nodes have the same capabilities. Research has shown that homogeneous ad hoc networks have poor performance and scalability. The many-to-one traffic pattern dominates in sensor networks, and hence a sensor may only communicate with a small portion of its neighbors. Most existing key management schemes try to establish shared keys for all pairs of neighbor sensors, no matter whether these nodes communicate with each other or not, and this causes large overhead.
We propose a novel routing-driven key management scheme, which only establishes shared keys for neighbor sensors that communicate with each other. 7: An Efficient Optimization Technique For Digital Watermarking In Image Processing

Synopsis: The possibility of adding several watermarks to the same image would enable many interesting applications such as multimedia document tracing, data usage monitoring, and multiple property management. In this paper, we present a novel watermarking scheme, which allows inserting and reliably detecting multiple watermarks sequentially embedded into a digital image. The proposed method, based on elementary linear algebra, is asymmetric, secure under projection attack and robust against distortion due to basic operations such as storage, transmission, and format conversion.

Synopsis: We study the following problem: A data distributor has given
sensitive data to a set of supposedly trusted agents (third parties). Some
of the data is leaked and found in an unauthorized place (e.g., on the web
or somebody’s laptop). The distributor must assess the likelihood that the
leaked data came from one or more agents, as opposed to having been
independently gathered by other means. We propose data allocation
strategies (across the agents) that improve the probability of identifying
leakages. These methods do not rely on alterations of the released data
(e.g., watermarks). In some cases we can also inject “realistic but fake”
data records to further improve our chances of detecting leakage and
identifying the guilty party.

11: Semi-Proving: An Integrated Method for Program Proving, Testing, and Debugging
Synopsis: We present an integrated method for program proving, testing, and debugging. Using the concept of metamorphic relations, we select necessary properties for target programs. For programs where global symbolic evaluation can be conducted and the constraint expressions involved can be solved, we can either prove that these necessary conditions for program correctness are satisfied, or identify all inputs that violate the conditions. For other programs, our method can be converted into a symbolic testing approach. Our method extrapolates from the correctness of a program for tested inputs to the correctness of the program for related untested inputs. The method supports automatic debugging through the identification of constraint expressions that reveal failures. Index Terms—Software/program verification, symbolic execution, testing and debugging.
