As the BTEC Tech Award in Child Development is a practical introduction to life and work in the industry, your students can explore the sector while:

• gives learners the opportunity to develop applied knowledge and understanding of child development

• supports student progression to further Level 2 BTEC qualifications and Level 3 BTEC Nationals and apprenticeships

• allows learners to acquire transferable skills that can be used within the sector and the wider environment.

The course has two internally assessed components, and one that's externally assessed:

These components build on each other to motivate your students by helping them put what they’ve learned into practice and grow in confidence.

How the course works…

Where the course can lead...

With a BTEC Tech Award in Child Development, your students are able to explore, challenge and realise their potential.

During the course, students can assess whether the childcare industry aligns with their expectations, by providing them with an insight into the skills and knowledge they'll need to succeed in this sector.

After completing the course, your students can continue on to further vocational study with a Pearson Level 3 BTEC National Diploma in Children's Play, Learning and Development (Early Years Educator). They could also progress to a Pearson Edexcel Level 3 Diploma in Children's Learning and Development (Early Years Educator) Apprenticeship.

What skills will my students gain?

Your students will also gain transferable skills during their studies such as self-reflection, communication, teamwork and problem solving, which will support their current and future progression.
