Welcome to the Wilberforce college BTEC Media preparation work. So, what will you study ? As a Media student, you will analyse how media products like TV programmes, films and music videos use images, sounds, language, and representations to create meaning for a relevant target audience. So, what will you study? As a Media student, you will analyse how media products like TV programmes, films and music videos use images, sounds, language, and representations to create meaning for a relevant target audience. You will learn about the media industry and how the industry affects how media products are made.

I want you now to pick a 10 minute scene from your favourite movie. You are going to analyse the scene and talk about how the MISE EN SCÈNE elements create meaning for the audience. How does the MISE EN SCÈNE inform you of the genre of the movie you are viewing? Fill in the sheet below with notes and write a more detailed response on a A4 piece of paper.

Task two

I want you now to look at the other elements present within your chosen film clips MISE EN SCÈNE. You are going to analyse the scene and talk about how, setting, props, costume, production design, lighting, etc. How do they inform you of the genre of the movie you are viewing? How do all these things elements create deeper meaning when understanding the story and representation of characters within your scene? Fill in the sheet below with notes and write a more detailed response on an A4 piece of paper.
