If you are open minded, creative and willing to take risks in your life and study, then this course is for you. This is a very accessible qualification and suitable for those students who have achieved grade 4 or above in any GCSE English qualification. A grade 4 in GCSE Maths is preferred but not required.________________________________________________________________________________WHAT WILL I LEARN ON THIS COURSE?There are four units to study; two are externally assessed. Three of the units are Mandatory and the fourth is chosen from a range of options. The three mandatory units are Enterprise and Entrepreneurs, Developing a Marketing Campaign and Personal & Business Finance.________________________________________________________________________________WHAT IS EXPECTED OF ME?In this course, there are opportunities to give learners practice in developing employability skills. Where employability skills are referred to, we are generally referring to skills in the following three main categories:1. cognitive and problem-solving skills: use critical thinking, approach non-routine problems

applying expert and creative solutions, use systems and technology.2. intrapersonal skills: communicating, working collaboratively, negotiating and influencing, self-

presentation and3. interpersonal skills: self-management, adaptability and resilience, self-monitoring and

development. There are also specific requirements in some units for assessment of these skills. This BTEC provides transferable knowledge and skills that prepare learners for progression to university. The transferable skills that universities value include: the ability to learn independently, the ability to research actively and methodically, to be able to give presentations and be active group members. Learners can also benefit from opportunities for deep learning where they are able to make connections among units and select areas of interest for detailed study. This course provides a vocational context in which learners can develop the knowledge and skills required for particular degree courses, including: reading technical texts, effective writing, analytical skills, self-management, creative development and preparation for assessment methods used in degrees.________________________________________________________________________________HOW WILL I BE ASSESSED?Unit 1 is assessed through an internally marked assignment. Unit 2 is externally assessed through a pre-set task and completion through a supervised write-up. Unit 3 is externally assessed through an exam. The two optional units are assessed through an assignment that is internally marked.________________________________________________________________________________WHAT COULD I GO ON AND DO AT THE END OF MY COURSE?When studied with other qualifications in a study programme, learners can progress into higher education on combined courses. Learners should always check the entry requirements for degree programmes with the specific higher education providers before making suitable Level 3 course choices. Learners could also progress to Higher Apprenticeships in areas such as business administration, marketing, accounting, sales or enterprise. The qualification will also give learners the skills to enter the self-employed market.
