BRT Consulting – History
BRT Consulting Ltd., established in Calgary in 1993, offers civil
engineering services and has successfully completed thousands of
projects globally, including Canada, USA, Pakistan, and Middle East.
Our firm provides expertise in all facets of design, engineering, construction management and procurement areas. Our primary area of support is related to the civil / structural discipline. structural steel, structural concrete, foundations, earthworks, substations and project
management are BRT Consulting’s areas of expertise. BRT Consulting’s proven success as an engineer in steel fabricated
structures, meeting stringent code requirements and seamlessly
integrating all service systems (plumbing, electrical, HVAC,
drainage/waste, fire protection systems etc.) naturally evolved into a
migration toward more turn-key operations serving a variety of
industries and specializing in a number of services.
This is what we do. We are steel! Turn key operations can be provided including:

Raw materials are cut to exacting specifications via computer numerical control (CNC)
technology, through the use of 3D CAD drawings.
The steel structure is fabricated, coated, erected, and assembled in their A277 audited and certified
manufacturing facilities under project specific Inspection and Test Plans (ITP) as part of their approved
QAQC and document control programs. This work is completed by qualified, experienced modular
craftsmen
Welding, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC and all finishing is 80% completed in factory
Complexed for completion Pulled apart to prep. for trans. Shipping walls installed
Crain onto truck deck Prepped for shippping
Once finished, completed products are then loaded for transport and delivered to their destination
where installation and final finishing is completed.

The BRT Modular – Advantage
1. Design flexibility and improved change order turn-around
o Design, engineering and fabrication stages are controlled and completed in-house
making for a more turn-key operation, resulting in better control over changes in design and expediting the change order process
2. Shorter project timeline
o With some 80% of the work completed in an off-site, controlled environment:
• Site work is reduced to a minimum from months to weeks • On-site HSE risk is reduced to a minimum
o An ancillary benefit to this construction process is that it greatly reduces site
congestion and minimally impacts neighboring areas and other on-site projects
o A quicker project turn-around provides the client with the ability to utilize the finished product sooner, thereby accelerating returns and ROI
3. Computer Numerical Control (CNC) fabrication is utilized in the manufacturing process:
o Reducing material waste as all framing (rim joists, plates, posts, headers, beams, studs…)
are cut, drilled and bored, via 3D printer designs and computer-controlled fabrication, to
exacting specifications by following a coded programmed instruction
4. Fire rating
o BRT Consulting collaborated with Hilti Canada and received a CSA judgement on processes
and materials utilized to provide code required fire separation on all unit to unit
connections, laterally, horizontally and vertically. Wood framed, modular structures and
flat pack assemblies do not provide this level of (required) fire separation without
significant design and engineering costs, tests and verification.
