Surrender is about letting go and releasing your life to God. The “big surrender” happens when we first turn over our lives to Christ. From that time on we learn about living a life of surrender. We no longer live for ourselves, but for another Master. We learn that being a follower of Christ is not just securing our ticket to Heaven but helping to bring the Kingdom of Heaven to Earth by how we live. No matter what your age or place in life, I hope you will keep an open mind and heart to the principle of surrender. It’s not just a word; it’s an open attitude to the Lord and how He wants to work in your life. Living a life of surrender, Jim Keller, Regional Director

Welcome Brown City Camp Families & Friends!! Welcome to Brown City Camp 2018! We are excited to journey forward with each of you. Whether this is your first time, or you’re a returning camper, we’re delighted that you are joining us! Family Camp offers time away with family and friends, bibli-cal teaching and worship, all to help us grow closer to God.

Are you spiritually moving in the right direction? This year’s camp theme: “Surrender: Letting go and releasing your life to God” (Luke 9:24) will challenge you to do just that.

We are blessed as a Camp to have ministries for all ages and interests! Children, youth, young adults, and adults will have many opportunities to encounter God during their morning and evening programs.

The afternoons are filled with seminars and classes for all ages with activities for children and youth. There will also be lots of opportunities to spend time together or take time on your own to reflect.

So take time to build those deep and lasting relationships this year at Family Camp. I encourage you to take advantage of the time to slow down and enjoy the company of God’s people, and connect with God in significant ways.

We hope you notice the continued improvements made around the campground again this year; a new youth office and nurse’s station, registration center and many other important, but perhaps not as noticeable, improvements.

Please read this booklet; it is full of information designed to be a helpful resource for you and your family during Camp. If you have any questions at all, please stop by the camp office and we will do our best to answer your questions.

Our goal is that you and your family will not just have the greatest week of your life, but an unforgettable week that will change your life forever! Are you ready to Surrender? Let go this week and release your life to God! Brent Kriesch, Camp Board Chairman

Chelsea has been a youth pastor at Colonial Woods Missionary Church since 2010 but was practically raised in the Missionary Church. She graduated from Moody Bible Institute in Chicago in 2009 with degrees in Biblical Studies and Communications. She is passionate about bringing the Bible to life and absolutely loves working with both junior high and high school students. Chelsea

believes life as a Christian should be an adventure, so she loves adventuring with Jesus, paddle-boarding, travel, photography, great stories, and art, to name just a few.

Ryan Graham is a worship leader and songwriter currently serving as a pastor on staff at Colonial Woods Missionary Church in Port Huron, MI. He lives there with his wife Megan and their one year old daughter Kinsley. He consid-ers it a great honor to lead people of all ages in worship and together magnify the name of Jesus.

Junior High

Jordan Pearson is the Worship and Student Ministries Pastor at New Life Fellowship in Topeka, Indiana, where he has served for the past 8 years. A Port Huron native and Bethel College graduate, Jordan has been leading worship for churches, conferences and camps for the past 17 years. Jordan has a heart for worship and a desire to bless others with the gifts that God has blessed him with.

The word surrender is an action verb. To many, it has a negative connotation to it, associated with losing or failing. Webster says “to yield to the power, control or possession of another upon compulsion or demand; to give up completely or agree to forgo especially in favor of another”; “To give oneself up into the power of another, especially as a prisoner; to give oneself over to something, such as an influence.”

Surrender is a word we hear a lot at camp especially at the end of a service, “I surrender all, all to Thee my precious Savior…..” And many of us respond. But what I see happen over and over again is we walk away from the altar with that thing following us because we are hanging onto it by a thread. All to often we go home and forget what the Holy Spirit did at camp.

It seems that the part of letting go and releasing your life to God is good but most people tend to focus on saving their life – the “what do I get out of it” attitude. Where’s the benefit? Looking for the instant gratification that this world says we need, so when it doesn’t come in the time frame we created, that’s when we adjust our lives to be part time “surrenderers!” But God wants it all ! He did give us His all in Jesus!!

I know that surrendering is difficult, but I have lived a life on both sides of the fence (and sometimes I’ve walked the top trying to balance both). I encourage ALL of us to choose to surrender daily and permanently, because His ways are always better. I won’t say it’s easier, but I will say that it is peaceful, graceful and full of blessings.

I pick the last definition of Webster’s as my definition - “to give oneself over to someone such as an influence”! Because we all are influenced by someone (thing) and I want to be known as HIS!!

How about you? This year let’s leave our garbage at camp with all strings cut!!

“If all I have is all that You desire - I surrender ALL!”...Clay Crosse

In His grip,

Donna Recor

Her desire is for women everywhere to walk daily in the Lord’s presence. Beth is a graduate of Asbury College and is married to Dr. Allan Coppedge, a former professor at Asbury Theologi-cal Seminary. Dr. Kinlaw lived with her family in their home in Wilmore, KY, until his recent passing. Cricket has been a featured speaker at the "Come to the Fire" women’s conference. NEWS FROM YOUR LOT SECRETARY

1. IMPORTANT——-IMPORTANT——-IMPORTANT ALL final payments for TEMPORARY LOTS MUST BE postmarked BEFORE May 1, 2019; after that date, the Camp Board reserves the right to cancel your lot reservations for the 2019 camp. However you would be eligible for another campsite, if available. If you do not make your final payment by May 1, 2019, contact Tom Knight (810-265-4629)

or [email protected] for any available lots.

2. ALL final payments for PERMANENT LOTS MUST BE post- marked BEFORE May 1, 2019; after that date, a $40 late fee will be charged. If you fail to occupy the campsite by noon the first Friday of camp, the Camp reserves the right to use the campsite. If you will be arriving after the first Friday of camp, MEMBERS may retain the use of the campsite by calling the Campsite Secretary at the Camp office, 810-346-2480.

If you stay at your campsite outside of the normal 10-day Family Camp, there is a $15 per night donation fee—this applies to all Temporary or Permanent lots. You must register, and either place the donation in the donation box at the Welcome Center as you leave camp, or give the donation directly to Ken Bricker.

5. PERSONAL PROPERTY AND LIABILITY INSURANCE The Camp's insurance does not cover cottages, mobile homes, trailers, etc. against vandalism, accident, fire, wind damage, or other personal insurable items. We strongly urge each person with property on the campgrounds to obtain extended liability for your protection. This type of insurance should include property damage protection and liability.
