Autumn Term; Issue 1
A Very Warm Welcome
Learning together, achieving together, growing together in God’s love.
I t only seems like yesterday that we
were waving everybody off and wishing them a happy holiday, and we’re back
already.
Maybe it’s just me, but
all the children seem to have grown
over the
summer!
We have a lot of ‘Welcomes’ to
say to new friends and colleagues. Miss
Ringwood, teaching Owl Class,
Mrs Barker, also in Owls, Mrs Warnes and Mrs
Ringwood (no relation) both in Robins and
Absolutely The First Brooke Report
Of The Year
Mrs Spinks who will be in Jays and
Swallows.
Additionally we have
some new children who have started
during the week: Joshua , Jack and Oliver have all
made a great start in Owls, while
Alfie , Malcolm and Mylee have settled really
well in Swifts.
And as for the
new Reception children… When I went into Robins on Tuesday
morning it was the calmest I think I have ever known a new cohort to be. So, well
done to all for a great first week back.
Mrs Hill, who worked with so many children during her many years here, and who retired
last year, has sent us the following message.
Dear Pupils and Parents,
Thank you all for the cards, best wishes and gifts I received when I left the school at the end of last term. Having
worked at Brooke School for many years, I have many memories of past and present families that will stay with
me.
I am sure I will see many of you locally so I will keep up with all the latest news. I wish you all the best for the
future.
With love,
Elaine Hill

1000 Miles by Bike W ell we finally made it! We started in fog, rain & wind at Lands End! And
finished in fog at John O'Groats with the sun slowly showing through at the sign post! Thankfully the weather
in between was glorious!
Trip totals: between the four of us:
1,120 miles over 13 days Falls 3
Crash into Hedgerow 1 Punctures 0
Injury 1 (mum) Midges for last 30 miles
heading towards John O'Groats! If you stopped for
more than 5 seconds you
were covered!
Cycling started at 7am most mornings, often not finishing until evening due to the mileage we had to cover in a day! A couple of the rides had to finish in the
dark! It's been an amazing experience! Thank you for all your support & for everybody who had helped us raise money for the British Heart Foundation!
We have so far raised £1150 for the British Heart Foundation.
You can still help the Lightfoot family raise money for this great cause by donating directly to their fundraising page -

We are all pleased to get back to wearing normal clothes
again, after two weeks’ living in Lycra!!
AFTER SCHOOL CLUBS
T his term I will be starting up both
TAG Rugby and Cross Country clubs,
which will both continue until October
half term at least.
A letter and sign-up form for each of
these will be coming home soon. Please
sign up for these as we look to build on
the successes of last year.

Parent Governor Vacancy A s the new school year starts we
would like to make you aware of a vacancy that has arisen for a Parent
Governor within school.
Our Governing body is a very strong group who lead the direction of the
school, holding the leadership to account for all that goes on and giving
an outstanding amount of support throughout the year.
Their skills are many and varied and each year a skills audit shows just
what a diverse team they are.
The commitment would be to one full governing body meeting per half term
along with membership of one of the
committees that meets in the weeks leading up to the FGB meeting.
Full training for the role is offered by
Norfolk County Governor Support and the post is entirely voluntary.
Resurfacing Issues
I ’m sure you all enjoy hot tar and loose
chippings as much as I do, and I am
very grateful that High Green was
resurfaced during the summer holiday,
but the fact that we have started term
without the ZIG-ZAG lines outside school
is not a good thing.
Apparently, even when the lines are not
visible the parking restrictions are still in
place.
Please do not park on or opposite the
invisible ZIG ZAGS. It is still a safety
issue and we all need to be diligent about
this to keep everyone safe at the
beginning and end of the day.
I hope it won’t be too long before they are
reinstated; I did see a truck and workmen
painting lines in Howe this afternoon, so
hopefully we’ll be next.
If you are interested in looking into
this vital part of the school’s management, please come and talk to
Mr. Robinson or our Chair of Governors, Jeremy Chaplin, best
accessed through Lorraine in the school office, and we can point you in
the right direction.
Our first FGB meeting of the year is on Wednesday, October 19th and it would
be good to have some idea by then. If
there is more than one person who would like to serve in this way we may
have to arrange an election, but we won’t know that until later.
So please consider this opportunity
and, if possible let us know by the end of the month.
Thank you.

Where in the world? My summer holiday last year was
an unexpected, thoroughly
enjoyable, but very tiring drive
through Belgium, Luxembourg,
France and Switzerland, with a
lot of walking, First World War
sites and mountain scenery. I
needed a holiday when I got
home—I was exhausted.
So this year we stayed closer to home, did a
lot less driving, scaled fewer mountains but
felt well refreshed at the end of it.
So where was I? There are some clues in the
pictures. And if you have some photos of
your summer that you would like
to share with us to give us a
challenge to find out where you
went please send them to me.

Come into the garden Maud...
H ave you seen our new garden
area? It’s splendid. The four
raised beds, specially designed for
even the littlest fingers to get dirty in,
along with the greenhouse and shed,
are a great addition to the school.
Along with Gardening Club, I hope that
all the classes will make use of this
wonderful new space as they go
through the different areas of the
curriculum.
And if we are lucky very soon we
may be eating fruit and veg that we
have grown on our own land with our
own sweat and labour.
County Champions M ore sporting success
was achieved during the
summer break as Brooke
Under 9s won the County
title.
With Sam Reynolds and Will
Panter both in fine form for
the team they beat
Swardeston Under 9s in an
absorbing final of the Norfolk
Alliance.
Brooke scored 300-8 in their
innings and restricted
Swarderston to 274-5.
Congratulations to all
concerned, a great way to
end a very successful season.
