ILS Intelligent Laser Scan Technology 3-DIMENSIONAL MEASURING OF THE WORKPIECES MEASURING OF THE INNER CONTOUR AUTOMATIC SIGNAL PROCESSING FOR THE CONTROL OF THE AXES NO PROGRAMMING EFFORD ILS –Intelligent Laser Scan Technology successfully implemented by WAGNER High degrees of automation besides easy handling were required by a leading supplier of workshop equipment. To solve this task axes and / or robots are needed. With Z-Axes each guns can be moved individually. Additionally rotational axes enable the rotation of the gun. By the use of articulated robots even the same mobility can be achieved as by manual coating. All these systems have in common, that the course of movement must be separately programmed. Therefore, however, the repeatability is excellent. For the programming or parameterization of such a system yet a higher qualification and training of the operating personnel is to be considered. The new laser scan technology ILS enables a 3-dimensional measuring of the work pieces. While the light-band can only detect the outer contours of an object as a shadow, the laser scanner is able to measure the inner contour, too. By means of these light signals a special software calculates the contour. It is now possible to move individual guns, without manual programming, so that they always have the desired coating interval to the work piece contour. Consequently collisions can reliably be avoided. The guns are assembled on individual axles. Hence each gun can operate its individual course of movement. The plant has been operating for half a year already and all systems have been working fail-safe. The customer regards all requirements effectively fulfilled.
