    A standard Panamax tanker has the deck structure below

    deck. This creates corn ers and bli nd spot s wh ich are

    dif fi cult to clean. Even aft er cleaning is compl eted, you

    basically have a tanker f or crude and dirt y product s, wit h

    th e abilit y to carry clean product s.

    However, the St ena Panamax has t urn ed t he t ables.

    Our t ank stru cture is placed on t he deck leaving t he

    epoxy coated cargo t anks smoot h and compl etely f ree of

    obst acles. There are no b lind spot s or any pockets for cargo

    residu es t o b e t rapped in. This makes t he t anks very easyto clean. The change fr om di rt y to clean product s can be

    made in a considerably shor ter t ime t han on a standard

    vessel, whi le minim izing t he risk of cont amination . The

    t anks can t hus be prepared en rout e to t he next lo ad

    area wi th a mini mum or n o loss of t ime.

    The Sten a Panamax is a produ ct t anker ready

    to carry clean as well as dirt y produ cts at shor t not ice.

    Flexibilit y wh en it comes to cargo grades is fu rt her

    enhanced by a f eatu re usually only f ound in clean-

    produ ct t ankers a corrug ated cent reline bulkh ead in

    th e cargo t anks.

    Additionally, the boiler capacity has been increased

    fo r impro ved cargo heating and t ank cleaning.

    The St ena Panamax is f it t ed wi th a more

    powerf ul main engine than normal for

    t hi s class of ship. The vessel i s capab le

    to sail in ballast at 16 knots and loaded

    passages at 15.5 kno t s. This is con sid e-

    rably faster t han most of th e panamax

    tankers now trading. A faster ship saves

    tim e, and t ime is money!
