  • Compact fully automated Fluorescence Flow Cytometerfor high quality haematology analysis

    State-of-the-art technology

A look insideWith fluorescence flow cytometry individual blood cells stained by fluorochromes are illuminated by asemi-conductor laser beam, enab-ling a sophisticated analysis basedon RNA/DNA content, cell size, andinner cell complexity. Looking intothe cell and judging the metabolicactivities in respect to cell replica-tion and protein synthesis offersmuch advanced possibilities for thedetermination of the cell type andmaturation stage.

The collection and fast processing of three optical signals obtained from each individual cell are thebasis for the cell identification. When it comes to white blood celldifferentiation, analysing the cellinterior properties rather than cellsize leads to reliable classificationalso in older samples and clearlyreduces interferences.

Using sysmex unique adaptivecluster analysis system (acas)instead of fixed discriminators re-sults in correct cell clustering andthus WBC differential counts also inhighly pathologic samples, accord-ingly reducing the false positiverate. The results are illustrated ininformative scattergrams.

In the optical unit of xt-1800ia semi-conductor laser, the flow cell, optical focussing systems and detectorsare combined in a sophisticated system.

The forward scattered light signal (cell size information), the side scatteredlight signal (internal cell structure) and the side fluorescence light signal(RNA/DNA information) of each cell areanalysed as it passes through the flowcell.

The xt information processing unit (IPU)The main unit and the completeoperation of the xt-1800i is controlledby the operator via the informationprocessing unit with interactivemenus. Intuitively understandableicons are used for the graphical userinterface of Windows.

In the IPU data base, all analysis re-sults and patient data including thecomplete set of scattergrams andhistograms of up to 10,000 samplesare stored.

Back-up facilities on CD-RW offer principally unlimited storage capa-city. Quality control programs allowunattended analysis of control blood samples in closed auto-sampler modeor in manual mode.

The multi-tasking computer systempermits real time bidirectional com-munication with the Host computer to request patient profiles fordiscrete testing with patient demo-graphical information and transmitsanalysis results immediately afteranalysis is completed. Even if thesystem is operated offline and with-out bar code system, selective sampleanalysis is maintained by using thework list function.

FlexibilityThe sysmex xt-1800i is available in multiple configurations. This offershigh flexibility and satisfies even theneeds of the most demanding hae-matology laboratory.

A 50-tube auto-sampler can bemounted on the main unit of theanalyser offering walkaway auto-mation. This sampler system enablescontinuous feeding of samples witha throughput rate of 80 samples perhour. A STAT function allows imme-diate analysis of emergency samples.

If desired, it is possible to install amanual cap piercer system insteadof the sampler.

No matter whether a manual or anautomated bar code reader is used, adequate positive sample identifica-tion gives confidence.

The complete main unit operation and all data management functions are performed on theinformation processing unit (IPU).

The optional sampler unit of xt-1800iensures efficient operation and through-put of 80 samples per hour, independentof the parameter profiles analysed.
