Superb Sonic Quality with 24bit/ 96khz Standard Throughout The heart of SPX2000 hardware isthe 96kHz audio D SP,

with 32-bit internal processing (58-bit accumulator)

which offersabundant processing power for the advanced

effect algorithms. The 24-bit 128-timesover-sampling

AD/DA convertersdeliver 106dB dynamic range and flat

response from 20Hz to 40kHz at 96kHz sampling rate.

Both are in line with the DM seriesD igitalProduction C onsole quality.

Refined Preset Programs Including the N ewly Developed "REV-X" Reverb Algorithm

There are 3 banksto the SPX2000 memory:

"PR ESET" , "CLASSIC" and "USER " .

"PRESET" bank contains97 programs. 17

programsare made with the newly developed

"REV-X" reverb algorithms. "REV-X" isa whole

new generation of Yamaha Reverb programswith

the richest reverberation tone and smoothest

decay. There are "REV-XHall" , "REV-XRO OM" and " REV-XPLATE"

algorithms. Newly introduced parameterslike ROOM SIZE and DECAY

envelope also bring much higher definition and finer nuances.

Other 80 presetsconsist of the popular trademarkSPX programssuch as

gate reverbs, delays, pitch effects, modulation and other specialeffects.

Also the latest algorithmsare introduced from the DM seriesDigital

Production Consolessuch as Multi-band Dynamic Processors. All

programswent through refined editing by the top engineers, and no

program isthe same asthe ones offered in the previouseffect processors

or digitalconsoles.

The "CLASSIC" bankon the other hand consistsof 25 programsgiving

you the reminiscence of the originalpresetsfrom the early SPXmodels

such asSPX90II. "U SER" bank can store 99 user programs.

The SPX2000 hasa wide variety of

uncompromising, superior reverb and spacial

ambience effects, including ER (early

reflection). These provide not only

exceptionally natural real-world ambience but

a stunning selection of other-worldly effectsas

well.

The REV-Xpresetsin particular—all17 o f

them—were redesigned completely from the

ground up, with new reverb algorithms. The

Hall presets(#1 -7) provide variousnatural,

high-density reverb programs, while the Plateprograms(#16 - 18) give you a crisp, well-

defined sound—per fect for vocals. The seven

Room presets(#27 - 33) feature realistic

recreationsof variousenvironments, with fine

parameter control over room size, aswellas a

variety of wallmaterialsand sound-absorption

characteristics.

Delay and Ech o

The Delay/Echo presetsfeature versatile,

high-quality delay effects—allowing you to tap

out a tempo fo r the delay time with the [TAP]

button or a foo tswitch, or synchronize the

SPX2000 to the tempo and note valuesfrom

an externalMIDI d evice.

Afull selection of delaysisprovided, with

mono, stereo, and a specialstereo with center

channel(#50, Delay L, C, R) for creating

three-dimensionalambience. There’salso a

Stereo Phasing preset (#66) that allowsyou to

modulate the delay sound with a sine or

triangle wave for complex, unique delay effects.

The Classic bankalso efferstw o popular

programsfrom the early SPXmod els: Delay L,

R and Stereo Echo.

Pitch Change

These programs give you sophisticated, high-

quality pitch shift effectsat yo ur fingertips,

updating the originalSPX programsw ith

enhanced sound, greater musicalcontrol and

dynamic expressiveness. The new effects have

many functionssuch as mixing of the sounds,

feedback, and synchronizing to tempo. The

Classic bankincludesPitch effectsfrom the

early SPXmodels, giving you MIDI note

controlo ver the pitch change.

Modul at ion

Awide variety of modulation effectsare

included on the SPX2000—for fattening the

sound, enhancing it, giving it animation and

depth, or completely transforming it.

Programs include Flanger, Phaser, Chorus,

Symphonic, Tremolo, Auto P an, Ring

Modulation and Mo dulation Filter. The

Rotary Speaker program (#71) faithfully

recreatesthat rich rotating speaker sound for

organ and other instruments. Special

Dynamic Modulation programs, such asDyna

Flange (#76) and Dyna Phaser (#77), let you

vary, respectively, the delay time and the

frequency of the effect sound with the

dynamicsof your playing or MIDI velocity—

for even greater expressive contro l. Also

included are combination programssuch as

#62 Reverb + Symphonic, givesyou Yamaha’s

originalmultiple choruseffect with modulated

delay time, and a high-quality reverb. Preset

#64 Chorus+ Reverb also letsyou use both

chorusmod ulation and reverb simultaneously.

The Classic bank featuresthe original

modulation programsof early SPXmodels.

Filter

These new programsinclude D ynamic Filter,

MultiFilter and Multi-band Dynamic

Processor. Program #78 D yna Filter givesyou

powerfulcontrol over the sound by allowing

you to vary the centralfrequency of the filter

with the signalitself or via MIDI velocity. The

Multi-band Dynamic Processor isalso

exceptionally versatile, giving you independent

controlo ver the dynamic range for three

separate frequency bands—each with an

expander/compressor/limiter—allowing you

to create extremely fat, fulland rich sounds.

Distort ion

The SPX2000 also hasyour d istortion bases

covered, with an Amp Simulator effect (#83)

for recreating vintage guitar amps, and a

specialnew Distortion program (#82)

featuring five different distortion

characteristics

(DST1/DST2/OVD1/OVD2/CRUNCH),

a noise gate, and comprehensive controlover

the tone. The SPX2000 also hascombination

effect programs, #84 Distortion Ǟ Flanger

and #85 Distortion Ǟ Delay, letting you

combine distortion with modulation or delay

effectsfor an even wider sonic palette.

COMBINATIONEFFECTS

Avariety of multieffect programsgive you

even greater signal processing flexibility andcreativity, putting reverb and modulation

together, or combining d elay with ambience.

These combination effectsare provided in two

different types, one routing the signalin

parallel(for example, #94 Delay + Reverb),

the other using serialprocessing of the signal

(for example, #95 Delay Ǟ Reverb).

Freeze

The Freeze effect turnsthe SPX2000 into a

phrase sampler, idealfor looping parts during

live performance. Quality isexceptionally high

(96 kHz), even for long phrasesup to nearly 3

seconds. The sampled audio can be played b y

pressing a panelb utton or by using an external

MIDI trigger. You can even specify the

number of playbackrepeats, up to 100 and

shift the pitch of the sample (in semitones).

The Classic bankbrings2 programs from the

early SPXmodels. Preset #23 Freeze Alets

you set the start and end points, while #24

Freeze B allowsyou to finely change the

playbackpitch of the sample in 1-cent units

(1/100 semitone).

PRESET BANK

Each and every one of these programsbo asts

incredibly rich tone and a super-smooth,

grain-free decay—giving you authentic

ambience for enhancing the originalsound.

Moreover, variousparametersprovide detailed,

comprehensive control over the processed

sound.

• The SPX2000 also features: Stereo Reverb,

Gate Reverb and specialDrum Machine

Reverb programs—refined and updated from

the SPX990.

• ER group effectsespecially for enhancing

drums, percussion and guitar, aswella s

creating powerful, in-your-face sounds. These

include #34 Fat Reflections, #41 FullM etal

Gate (a dynamic gated reverb program), and#42 Reverse Gate.

• The Classic bankoffers 4 basic reverbs—

Hal l , Room, Vocal and Pl ate , aswel l asthe

early reflection, gat e reverb and reverse gate

programsfrom the early SPXmodels.
