As early as the 17th century The Netherlands has been trading with Viet-nam, since then the relationship has been characterised by stability and close collaboration. The Netherlands and Vietnam enjoy relationships in politics, economics and development work. Vietnam’s unique geographic position as gateway to regional markets and its growing domestic market of 89 million people, have made the country an attractive investment and trade destination for Dutch companies. However, this is not the only rea-son why The Netherlands is one of the biggest European investors and tra-ding partners of Vietnam. The similarities make us natural partners in mul-

energy and the chemical industry. Over the last few decades Vietnam has built up a record of economic stability. Meanwhile the government con-tinuously works on economic reforms leading to a more open economy.Since its independence Singapore has grown into an international hub, a distinctive global city. Vietnam, a development success story

During the last decade, Vietnam’s GDP growth rate averaged 6.2%, even during the economic crisis Vietnam’s GDP increased. The country has proven itself to be a steady investment market. Moreover, in January 2007 the country became a mem-ber of the World Trade organization. Economic prosperity, political stability, an at-tractive labour force and the rise in promising sectors make investing in Vietnam a worthwhile business opportunity. During the past decade Vietnam initiated economic reforms resulting in a more open and liberal market economy. Thanks to the high investment ratio, rapid growth of the industrial sector, a boom in the private sector and swift export expansion, Vietnam has established sustained eco-nomic growth. The cheap Vietnamese labour force makes the market attractive for foreign investors, especially labour intensive industries. Almost 60% of the 89 million inhabitants has the working age of 15 to 65 years, ranking Vietnam the 13th largest labour force in the world. The Netherlands is the biggest European investor in Vietnam. With its location in the centre of Southeast Asia, Vietnam is easily accessible for China and other ASEAN countries. Particular sectors such as water, agriculture, oil and gas trans-port, logistics and the maritime sector, are exceptionally attractive for Dutch en-terprises.

Singapore, the gate to South East Asia

Singapore is known for its integrity, quality, reliability, productivity, rule of law and enforcement of intellectual property rights. The GDP grew with an average of 7.7% since its independence in the 1960s. With the world’s most open busi-ness environment and low taxes, Singapore is an excellent business opportunity, that can be a rewarding source of investment for your company. Singapore has a highly developed trade-oriented market economy. Its economy has not only been ranked most open in the world, it is also least corrupt, most pro-business, and the world’s third highest GDP per capita in the world. An open immigration policy has served to enhance Singapore’s talent pool. The multi-cultural Singaporean

Letters of recommendation “On behalf of Maastricht University and with pleasure I wholeheartedly support the students

who participate in Research Project Maastricht 2014-2015. The project testies to the truly

international orientation of our university, and our students. In addition, the company-specic

research that the Research Project Maastricht will be conducting in Vietnam and Singapore is a

good example of our worldwide eorts to close the gap between research and business. Both

aspects ll me with great pride.”

Prof. Dr. M. Paul, President, Maastricht University

“Research Project Maastricht has conducted a partner search project on behalf of Douwe

Egberts. The objectives of the study were to identify the market potential and to propose a

short list of Full Service Partners meeting an agreed set of criteria. Douwe Egberts is impressed

by the professional and structured approach by the team that resulted in a highly valuable and

complete report. For Douwe Egberts this was a very cost eective and ecient way to explore

new market opportunities. Douwe Egberts thanks RPM for the outstanding cooperation and

highly recommends their services.”

A. Leusink, Regional Manager Asia, Douwe Egberts Professional Export

“Research Project Maastricht investigated and explored the Brazilian gymnastic equipment

market in order to reveal Janssen-Fritsen’s opportunities to become the main supplier of the

Rio 2016 Olympic Games. We were impressed by the thorough research that was conducted

and the professional way the results were communicated and presented. During the whole

period of research, the team proved to be well prepared and dedicated. We have used the

recommendations of Research Project Maastricht in order to position ourselves on the

Brazilian market and we denitely recommend services.”

Drs. J.M. Janssen, CEO, JF Group B.V.

“From November 2012 until March 2013 an enthusiast group of RPM students conducted

a study to investigate the mining market in Brazil for Boskalis International. Starting with a

detailed desktop study the subject was narrowed down to ensure the in country follow up

was spend prudently on high potentials. Following the study a hands on report was written

producing some interesting results. Boskalis International was  pleased with the professional

and detailed approach of RMP 2013 and would recommend others to utilise their services.”
