    ITCIT is no longer confined to being just a career;

it is now part of every career. Physics or

    biology, accountancy or painting, reading

books or writing them, media or journalism,

teaching or studying further, IT plays a big

role in each one. Today, IT transforms sectors

    like manufacturing, medicine, banking,

    business research, marketing, consulting,

    business analytics, hospitality, insurance,

equity research and many more fields,

including the arts and humanitarian work. It

has come to play a big part in all career

    opportunities for science, humanities and

    commerce students after Class 12.

    Manufacturing processes have become

    more and more automated; medical

records are stored digitally; banking has

travelled a long way from being manual

    and branch-centric to becoming mobile;

    analytics uses data modeling tools:

equity research uses real time data

    analysis: and hospitality has launched

variable pricing by managing real time

inventory. There truly is a little bit of IT in

every sector and NIIT guarantees that

you are always equipped with just the

right IT know-how that will let you

    change your career path significantly.

    Archit

    The GN

    attribut

The new GNIIT academic architecture is a credit-based system designed to

workload. It is a standard metric adopted by many educational institutions

expected to put in while completing a course.

The programme architecture defines the overall number of credits that a

student must accumulate to be awarded the programme title or degree.

These credits are then distributed across semesters and within semesters

student will have to put into each course as well as the overall programme.

For example at NIIT, students pursuing the GNIIT programme are expected

to complete two semesters of Professional Practice (PP) by working full

time in organisations. Each of the semesters of Professional Practice is

assigned a credit load of 20 credits. Thus, any GNIIT student necessarily

has to accumulate 40 credits through Professional Practice.

Further, programme requirements may include specifying that a certain

number of credits be accumulated in a particular area or through a particular

mode of learning. Typically one hour of classroom lecture is given the same

weightage as two hours of lab work. Thus, if one credit of learning is achieved

by attending 15 hours of classroom lectures, it will typically take 30 hours of

lab work to achieve one credit. In the same vein, a four-credit course will

A credit-based academic architecture makes it easy for a programme to

be updated and remain current. An obsolete course can be removed and

substituted by another course with a similar credit load. In the same

courses based on their specific areas of interest. Typically, such courses,

    the student is nearing graduation.

The credit details of each course as well as semester in the GNIIT

programme are given along with their description on page 22.

Higher Emphasis on Core Technical Skills

This is ensured by a judicious mix of core concepts and key technologies.

    Technology Certifications

Global technology certifications focus on business, professional and core technology skills. The certifications are awarded by vendors like Microsoft, O racle,

SAS and IBM according to specific job roles. NIIT has access to these upcoming technologies due to its academic alliances with the global technology majors.

Our syllabus is mapped to dynamic global technological trends.

At GNIIT, students can prepare for specific job profiles based on their areas of interest. This is possible through a pool of elective courses in Semester 5. So,

through a combination of the electives based on the core course content, you can identify custom skill sets as per your desired job profile.

At the end of the programme you are thus qualified to try for the global certifications, resulting in a triple qualification-GNIIT, graduation and technology

certifications. These certifications give you the credentials to become globally mobile IT professionals.

Semester ProjectsThe GNIIT curriculum design ensures that n o learning from earlier semester(s) is lost when you graduate to higher semesters. In every semester starting

from Semester 2, students will work on projects that will assimilate the learning of all semesters learnt till then . The semester projects:

Help students demonstrate skills using real life case studies

Focus on assimilating the learning from earlier semester(s)

Continuously engage the learner to implement the concepts and skills learnt in previous semesters

    Communication and Professional Skills

In todays professional environment, IT professionals need to possess strong technical skills, in addition to becoming well-rounded personalities. Thus,

communication and soft skills along with strong IT credentials are critical success factors.

Students of GNIIT are well prepared to meet the demands of the IT industry to create wellrounded personalities. Professional skills are part of every

semester (starting from Semester 2) and these are monitored as wells as evaluated.

    Graduate Degree Advantage

GNIIT gives you a graduate degree advantage through lateral admission to semester 3 and 4 of the B.Sc. IT degree awarded by Kuvempu University, Karnataka.

Cloud and Collaborative Learning Methodology: A New Networked Learning Ecosystem

The new GNIIT syllabus is now based on Cloud & Collaborative Learning Model. This pioneering initiative takes learning beyond the traditional

student-teacher relationship and addresses the needs of todays generations lifestyle and their learning style. It helps seamlessly blend the

instructor-led classroom-based learning, virtual classrooms and online learning using Cloud services being oered through Indias First Cloud

    CampusTM ecosystem.

    Professional Practice

A year of professional practice at the end of graduation and five

semesters at NIIT exposes our students to working in a real

industry environment. It is an internship that consolidates the

students knowledge into applied skill-sets. Over 3,800 reputed

organisations are enlisted as NIIT partners in providing

professional practice to GNIIT students. Even better, students get

to earn-while-they-learn during their stint at the professional

    practice site.

Typically, a student gets a stipend from the organisation that

recruits them for a year of professional practice. This helps our

students recover anywhere from 50% to 150% of the programme

fees even before they complete their studies. Our students get a

chance to take charge of their career even before it begins.

    NIITs Revolutionary Learning Methodology

The new GNIIT programme will revolutionise the way you learn. Get

ready for anytime, anywhere learning to make you sharper, smarter

and ready, to face the professional demands of today.

Based on a revolutionary teaching approach called Cloud and

Collaborative Learning Methodology, the programme gives you

unparalleled flexibility and convenience. In addition, NIITs

collaborative learning philosophy gives you wider exposure and

greater scope for learning with your peers and classmates. You can

benefit from the expertise of NIITs local and national faculty

network. So that this focused learning will help you take your career

exactly where you want it to go. All this and more is just a click away
