We’re moving into our 4th decade!

How time flies. When we look back, the tentative beginnings of 30 years ago seem like just yesterday. Not in our wildest dreams could we ever have imagined what a success story the Gsiesertal Lauf Race would become. We have registered 54,313 “finishers” from all over the globe in the meantime, and enthusiasm for this invigorating sport shows no signs of waning. We owe many thanks to many people; without the help and support of over 400 willing volunteers, sponsors, public institutions, landowners and our partners, the organisation of this peak sporting event in South Tyrol would simply not be possible.

All our thoughts at this time are with our fellow organiser and founding partner Erich Mayr, who has sadly left us all too soon. Dear Erich, fare thee well!

Stiamo entrando nel 4° decennio! Come passa il tempo! Quando ripenso agli inizi incerti di 30 anni fa, mi sembra ieri. Nemmeno nei nostri più rosei sogni avremmo potuto immaginare a quale storia di successi avrebbe condotto l’organizzazione della Gran Fondo Val Casies. In questi anni, hanno tagliato il traguardo ben 54.313 atleti di ogni parte del mondo, accrescendo così senza sosta l’interesse per questo sano sport. Ma non dobbiamo neppure dimenticare di ringraziare i 400 volontari, gli sponsor, l’amministrazione pubblica, i proprietari dei terreni e i nostri partner, senza i quali l’allestimento di un evento di tale portata sarebbe stato impensabile.

In questi giorni e settimane, il nostro pensiero va ad Erich Mayr, collega del comitato organizzativo e membro fondatore, che purtroppo ci ha lasciato troppo presto. Addio, caro Erich!

Wir gehen in das 4. Jahrzehnt!

Wie schnell die Zeit vergeht. Als wenn es gestern gewesen wäre, erinnern wir uns an die zaghaften Anfänge vor gut 30 Jahren. Nicht in den kühnsten Träumen konnten wir damals erahnen, welch eine Erfolgsgeschichte mit der Organisation des Gsiesertal Laufes gestartet wurde. Inzwischen registrieren wir 54.313 „Finisher“ aus allen Erdteilen und das Interesse an dieser gesunden Sportart ist weiterhin ungebrochen. Wir sind sehr zum Dank verpflichtet, denn ohne die Mithilfe und Unterstützung der über 400 freiwilligen Mitarbeiter, der Sponsoren, der öffentlichen Verwaltung, der Grundbesitzer und unserer Partner wäre die Organisation dieses Südtiroler Sport-High-Lights undenkbar.

Unsere Gedanken sind in diesen Tagen und Wochen vor allem auch bei unserem Organisationskollegen und Gründungsmitglied Erich Mayr, welcher uns leider allzu früh verlassen hat. Lieber Erich, lebe wohl!

Die Geschichte des Gsiesertal Laufes nahm 1984 ihren Lauf.

Keine einzige Veranstaltung ist seitdem ausgefallen, weder aufgrund von Schneeknappheit noch aufgrund wirtschaftlicher Engpässe. In drei Jahrzehnten haben an die 55.000 Läufer aus allen Erdteilen die wunderbaren Loipen und das einzigartige Flair dieser Veranstaltung genossen. Dafür danken wir jedem einzelnen Teilnehmer. Verbunden sind wir auch allen Sponsoren, Institutionen und vor allem den vielen freiwilligen Mitarbeitern.Wir Organisatoren, alle freiwilligen Mitarbeiter sowie die gesamte Bevölkerung setzen auch in Zukunft alles daran, die besten Voraussetzungen zu schaffen, damit Euer Aufenthalt im Gsiesertal in bleibender Erinnerung bleibt.

The history of the Gsiesertal Lauf Race dates back to 1984, and we

haven’t stopped since. Not when the snow has been scarce, not in the midst of economic adversity, not once; and in three decades nearly 55,000 cross-country skiers from all corners of the earth have made their mark in our snow and made our race unique. Because at the end of the day it is you the skiers, every one of you, who make the Gsiesertal Lauf Race so extraordinary and we owe you so many thanks for this, more so with each year that passes. Just as we owe our gratitude to everyone who gives us their support, from institutions to sponsors to our fellow citizens. For our own part, as an organisation and as a group of untiring and irreplaceable volunteers, we endeavour to provide the best possible conditions so that you can enjoy a tremendous experience and leave with everlasting memories of your stay here in our Gsieser Valley.

La storia della Granfondo Val Casies ha inizio nel 1984 e da allora

non ci siamo mai fermati, nemmeno quando la neve era poca, nemmeno nei momenti di difficoltà economica, mai, e in tre decenni quasi 55.000 fondisti provenienti da ogni angolo del mondo hanno solcato le nostre nevi e reso unica la gara. Perché in definitiva sono i concorrenti, tutti voi, che rendete la Granfondo Val Casies così straordinaria e di questo ve ne siamo grati, anno dopo anno sempre di più. Così come siamo grati a chi ci supporta, dalle istituzioni agli sponsor, ai nostri concittadini. Da parte nostra, come organizzazione e come gruppo composto da tanti infaticabili e insostituibili volontari, cerchiamo di creare le migliori condizioni affinché possiate trascorrere un’esperienza fantastica e ricordare per sempre il vostro soggiorno nella nostra Valle di Casies.
