The program is designed so students complete one session of academic study at Southern Cross University, followed by a session of internship to build valuable ‘hands on’ skills and experience. The internship session is coordinated through Southern Cross University at a tourism/hospitality organisation at a range of locations around Australia. During the internship students are provided with advice, academic supervision and mentoring by the Work Integrated Learning (WIL) team. Ongoing support and feedback on career development is also available with access to the University’s employment and career information website. Application process

1. ChooseRequest approval from your home institution to participate in the Study Abroad – Hospitality Internship program at Southern Cross University. Check to see if you are eligible to receive credit for the internship with your home institution.

2. Submitscu.edu.au/international/applyApply online and attach all supporting documents including:

– Original or certified copies of transcripts – English language test results; and – Resume.

3. AcceptOnce Southern Cross University has processed your application, you will receive information from your home institution.

Duration 32 weeks

Program fee AUD$18,800

Start February, July, November

Entry requirements Successfully completed two years of an approved tourism or hospitality related program with an approved Southern Cross University partner institution.

English language comparable to Academic IELTS 6.0 with no band less than 5.5.

Current professional resume.

Included:

– Four units (48 units of credit) of academic study

– Four units (48 units of credit) of internship and orientation

– Assistance with gaining an industry internship from a variety of relevant organisations in a range of locations within Australia

– Academic transcript from SCU – 8 units (96 units of credit)

– Academic support and mentoring during the internship.

Not included:

– Transport in Australia to the industry placement

– Living expenses

– Accommodation and living expenses during the internship placement.
