Our post-graduate program at IMG Academy offers student-athletes a unique opportunity to enhance their overall academic, athletic and personal standing with top college coaches and programs by offering a rigorous load of academic classes while participating in one of our sport programs, with SAT, ACT and test prep courses available. Each student-athlete’s objectives and goals are different and our dedicated staff of teachers, counselors, coaches and performance specialists will work diligently with them to make sure their individual needs are met.

IMG Academy’s College Planning and Placement Department works with all IMG Academy student-athletes and families to create an individualized roadmap for reaching their goal of studying and playing their sport at the collegiate level. This process incorporates families, coaches and both university admission and athletic staff in our efforts.

COLLEGE PLANNING & PLACEMENT

COLLEGE PLANNING

We work with post-graduate student-athletes in individual counseling sessions throughout the year.

Resources such as the Naviance Family Connection (an online counseling tool), College Board, admissions visits and college fairs to name just a few, are invaluable in this process.

n We provide academic guidance in selecting courses and preparing for PSAT’s, SAT’s and ACT’s

n We coordinate recruiting efforts, call coaches and work with sport liaisons

n We communicate with parents through email and the IMG Academy website

n We facilitate NCAA rules and eligibility education and serve the entire community as our NCAA compliance resource

n We stay in touch with alumni – those transferring, those needing guidance and support, and those now preparing for graduate school

ATHLETIC RECRUITING

Using the expertise of each of our selected college athletic recruiting liaisons, we connect our student-athletes with numerous university and college coaches using a combination of technology, campus-based events and international competitions.

Each sport at IMG Academy has at least one college athletic recruiting liaison. These liaisons will work with the college advisors to guide student-athletes through the recruitment components of the overall college selection process. We ask all student-athletes and parents to take an active role in the recruiting process.

NCAA COMPLIANCE EDUCATION

The College Planning and Placement Department works to educate each student, family, coach and staff member on the nuances of NCAA eligibility. The NCAA (National Collegiate Athletic Association) is made up of college and university member institutions, which develop and implement rules and regulations to determine participation and protect fairness in every sport. Our staff offers educational workshops, monitors academic certification, tracks recruitment activities and oversees amateurism issues so that student-athletes, parents, and college coaches can have full confidence that an IMG Academy graduate will have a complete understanding of the rules in place that govern their eligibility to play at the next level.

SAT, ACT OR TEST PREP

IMG Academy student-athletes take a year-long, SAT, ACT or test preparatory course that begins in the spring semester of their sophomore year and continues through the end of the fall semester of their junior year. The course is scheduled to coincide with the optimal timing for student-athletes to begin preparing for the test and complete their preparation when they are expected to begin taking the SAT. Preparation includes critical strategies, test-taking tips, topic-specific lessons and online prep courses.

POST-GRADUATE UNIVERSITY YEAR

Enhance your overall academic profile and athletic ability without hindering your NCAA eligibility through our University Year offering.

IMG Academy enables student-athletes to receive college credit by enrolling in courses through our partnership with the University of South Florida. All courses offered are easily transferred and satisfy the requirements at most U.S. colleges and universities.

POST-GRADUATE HIGH SCHOOL YEAR

Our High School Year offering is specifically designed for student-athletes looking to improve their academic profile while continuing athletic development before enrolling in college.

Students will participate in an academically challenging course schedule, including honors and AP, while receiving additional SAT, ACT, and test prep support to help improve test results.

This offering is open to international students with an F-1 student visa and is a preferred option for student-athletes looking to attend a prestigious academic university.

POST-GRADUATE ACADEMIC ENGLISH

Transitioning into American culture and the U.S. education system for an international student can be a challenging and unfamiliar experience. To make sure your move is a successful one, our Academic English offering is a perfect solution for students looking to improve academic reading and writing in English and preparing for their TOEFL exam.

STUDENT ACTIVITIES

We take advantage of our premier location to provide student-athletes with access to first-class activities on- and off-campus. Whether it is a beach trip or a visit to the Magic Kingdom at Disney World, we strive to let our student-athletes see everything this area has to offer.

On-campus options are plentiful and range from daily choices like relaxing by the pool, playing video games in the student lounge or cheering for fellow student-athletes in other sports to special events like welcome back parties, holiday celebrations, Homecoming, Prom and more.

SOCIAL ATMOSPHERE

IMG Academy’s campus life philosophy is built around three central tenants: personal, social and academic growth. Between the web of house parents, coaches, teachers, administrators and other adult members of the IMG Academy community, your student-athlete will never have a lack of people helping them succeed.

n Personal Growth - We focus on life skills, peer-to-peer interactions, health, wellness, and leadership. With a sense of structured independence, we want to let student-athletes take ownership of their life here. While they are making these independent choices, a team of adults is there to provide structure and ensure that student-athletes have the support they need to make the right decisions.

n Academic Growth - Our house parents work with student-athletes on time-management and organization, cultivating good study habits and working with our Learning Resource Center and school in making sure a student has the proper academic support and tutoring they may need.

n Social Growth - Through self-advocacy, being a positive member of a community and positive peer-to-peer/adult interaction, we help student-athletes become better prepared for college. A key component of this is having our house parents help student-athletes see the best way to work through issues whether they are with roommates, on the practice field or in the classroom.

OUR CAMPUS

DINING

IMG Academy serves a daily buffet-style breakfast, lunch and dinner complete with healthy selections for the training athlete. The Campus Center houses the west campus dining hall, with a variety of food stations including a grill, deli and salad bar. It also is home to three additional dining options - La Boulangerie (coffee shop/bakery), Fuzion (Asian fusion) and Brick Oven (pizzeria). Student-athletes can also grab custom blended smoothies at our on-campus Smoothie King locations.

HEALTH SERVICES

With a knowledgeable, compassionate team of nurses on duty 24 hours a day to assist, Health Services provides support to student-athletes for any type of medical issue. Provided by Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital, Health Services can also help student-athletes with pre-existing medical conditions by distributing prescription medication at designated times to ensure safety and proper dosage.

If advanced medical care is necessary, an appointment can be scheduled with our on-campus medical provider, with most major insurances accepted. If a referral to a specialist is recommended, the Health Services team will provide assistance by helping to schedule appointments and transportation.

IMG ACADEMY BOOKSTORE

The IMG Academy Bookstore offers all of your equipment and apparel needs from training gear to shoes, and includes essential items like sun care products, coolers and other accessories to maintain an elite training level.

HOUSE PARENTS

By serving as supportive mentors and responsible leaders, our full-time Campus Life team – led by our house parents – have one main responsibility: the care and guidance of our student-athletes. House parents promote a safe and positive living environment conducive to academic achievement, character development, personal growth and all-around well-being.

Most importantly, our house parents are trained on-site resources for our student-athletes. Available 24/7, two house parents are assigned to each floor, with at least one house parent on-call at all times to assist if an emergency may arise. House parents promote a positive living environment, while uniting student-athletes to create a thriving floor and hall community.

CAMPUS SAFETY

The Campus Safety team maintains a safe and secure environment for campus occupants, while also being warm, relaxed and approachable to all. They provide 24/7 security at campus entrance and exits, as well as campus patrol.
