Scientific Name and Interesting Facts
Liquidambar styraciflua When the leaves are crushed, it
produces a citrusy scent. The sap, when hardened, was used
as gum. Sweet gum wood is used for doors,
and crates. Straight trunk Produces seeds in shape of ball, seed
called gum balls.

Brittany: You were able to see changes in the tree. The best part of the project was being able to research and learn about the tree.
Katie: The best thing about adopt a tree was actually getting out of the classroom and seeing the tree instead of just doing research about them.
Antwon: The color of our tree and all the gumballs are amazing to see on our tree. We didn’t have to touch the tree because of the poison ivy.
