June Ride Out
A review by Brian Sharpey
This years June run was organised mainly by Garnet and was a pleasant run to the Wellington Aviation Museum at Morton-In-Marsh. The weather was near perfect, blue sky, small white clouds and lots of Cotswold landscape to compliment it.
The run took us through Leafield and Shipton under Wychwood, to Kingham and Dalesford and over a small ford at Broadwell before arriving at Moreton. The Museum is quite small but full of WWII exhibits including several engines. There were huge multi-cylinder radials and double banked, sleeve
valved monsters (which would probably not fit in a Featherbed!). They were all beautifully made and its awful to think about how most of them ended up.
We spent an hour in the museum before a 200 yard ride to the Inn on the Marsh. Ian Cordes went his own way on his Triumph Saint and Graham Humphris, Cliff Jones, Garnet and myself enjoyed a pint in the sunshine before heading back the way we came – well almost. Ed – Thanks Brian
Cassington Bike Night
This year was the 28th Bike Night and the 21st at Cassington. The number of bikes in attendance was
dramatically down on the last few years. I guess the weather was the main cause. Even though it didn’t rain that much in the village you didn’t have to travel too far to get very wet. Raffle The raffle was handed over to the Helen and Douglas House Hospice. For more info about the hospice and what they do, visit their web site at www.helenanddouglas.org.uk/
They raised £790 and were very pleased. Just to give an idea….the most the club has ever raised is £300 and that was on a much busier night so congratulations to them. The winners of the raffle were as follows:
Prize Winner
Hot Air Balloon flight for two Carol Winstone
Car or Motorcycle Insurance up to £500 Penny Elger
2 Tickets for a Motor Race meeting at Silverstone Sharon Leach
A years subscription for a Motorcycle or Car magazine Warburton
Trophies 5 trophies were donated by Carole Nash to be presented by the club this year, the winners were as follows:

Geoff asked Ken to present the Trophy for the ‘Best Alien’ because he was the member who is likely to have had the most dealings with the winner in his professional capacity! Looks to me like Ken’s trying to get it back….
Photo courtesy of Ken D Central News turned up for a bit, Paul got to star with his Norton. At one point none of the spectators could make out what the cameraman was trying to do when it looked like he was trying to squeeze
his camera into the silencer. You did look and sound the part Paul but you didn’t get to ride off with a very pretty lady on the back! ☺

production run of 500 is currently in progress. I have a copy of the literature if anyone would like a copy.
On behalf of the club I would like to thank every one who helped setting up, during the night and afterwards. I can’t name everyone but would like to single out Geoff and Paul for their hard work. Thanks also to John for organising a great treasure hunt before he went home! It is a bit poor though
when you organise the game and then win it yourself giving no one else a chance. ☺
