Short papers relating to particular experience in occupa- tional medicine will be considered. Notes and miscellanea will deal with brief observa- tions relevant to industrial medicine which do not warrant a full paper, such as individual case histories, preliminary reports or modifications to analytical methods. Extended book reviews may also be included. All papers submitted for publication should be referred to The Editor, British Journal of Industrial Medicine, Department of Occupational Health, University of Manchester, Clinical Sciences Building, York Place, Manchester M13 OJJ. Papers are accepted on the understanding that they are contributed solely to this Journal, and that they are subject to editorial revision. Papers should be prefaced by an abstract of the argument and findings; this abstract should be more comprehensive than a summary, which will not be required. Papers must be typewritten on one side of the paper only, in double spacing, and with a wide margin. Photographs and photomicrographs should be printed on glossy paper and should be unmarked. Charts and graphs accompanying papers should be care- fully drawn in black ink on tracing linen or Bristol board or stout, smooth, white paper; any lettering should be lightly inserted in pencil. References In the text the year of publication in brackets must follow the author's name. At the end of the paper, references should be arranged in alphabetical order of authors' names. Such references should give the author's name, followed by initials and year of publication in brackets, the title of the article, the name of the journal in which the article appeared, the volume number in arabic numerals, followed by the numbers of the first and last pages of the article. Journals quoted in the references should be abbreviated according to World Medical Periodicals (3rd ed., 1961, W.M.A.). When a book is referred to, the place and year of publication, edition, and page number of the reference quoted should be given.
