• The British supported Tecumseh

• A man named Francis Scott Key watched the attack on Fort McHenry and the next day the American flag was still flying high

• The Treaty of Ghent had been signed after the Battle of Baltimore

• Neither commander of the U.S. or the British heard about this treaty in the south, so a battle was fought even after a peace treaty had been signed

• The Americans still won and that put an exclamation mark on the war
