2. Looked similar to the modern British but were smaller and had a life span of only about 30 years. Year: 50,000 B.C. They made tools from flakes of flint. First tribe in which now is know as Britain. 3. Year: 10,000 B.C. They seemed to have followed herds of deer. They were hunters, gatherers and fishers. Deer provided them with food and clothing. 4. They were small, dark and long-headed people. Year: 3,000 B.C. These people kept animals and grew corn crops. They knew how to make pottery. 5. They were roundheaded, strongly built and tall. Year: 2,400 B.C. Had military and metal- working skills. Brought with them a new cereal, barley. 6. Year: 1,300 B.C. Settled farming class. They learned to enrich the soil with natural waste materials. 7. They were tall, had red hair and blue eyes. Year: 700 B.C. Knew how work with iron. THE CELTS 8. THE ROMANS Year: 500 B.C. They had a very strong militar force. They brought the skills of reading and writing to Britain. 9. The Saxon invasion.
