Some strong words

Like many others I took the ScrumMaster training course and have been assigned the CSM designation. Yet, because no agile experience or test was required, feel it represents recognition for attending a training course rather than a measure of agile understanding or experience. If we

are to have agile accreditation then something based on a test, practical experience, interviews and peer review seems

a fair way to go.

What are we doing about it

First things first

●  Create a standard body of Scrum knowledge ●  An assessment tool to measure applicants for Certified

ScrumMaster and Certified Scrum Product Owner against those standards

●  These measures are necessary to ensure that we are meeting the needs of the Scrum community

●  The CSM exam will be a computer-based, non-proctored multiple-choice exam that covers objectives from four major Scrum topics

●  The practice of Scrum brings with it a unique area of knowledge that can be measured through an exam at the completion of a training course.

The levels

Topic

Certified Scrum Practitioner Any individual participating on a Scrum project, including ScrumMasters, Product Owners, analysts, developers, testers, and project managers.

Certified Scrum Coach Individuals who are working successfully with Scrum teams and are applying Scrum coaching skills with one or more current teams and/or organizations

Certified Scrum Trainer Individuals who have guide-level knowledge and skills as wells as the ability to teach Scrum-related concepts to groups in a classroom setting.

The Problem

●  Typical templates satisfy traditional projects

●  Emphasis on progress to schedule, planned deliveries/milestones

●  Agile projects focus on business value delivery in available time & budget

●  Status reports need additional data to show progress in these terms.
