** 1999 MAP paper identified a specific PS MW max activity of 80 kDa. 2005 paper did not determine specific MW max.

Abstract conclusion

Aloe polysaccharides of 5 – 400 kDa exhibit

• Most potent macrophage activation

• Most phagocytic activity

• Most potent antitumor activity in vivo

Bioactivity Guided Process DevelopmentBioactivity Guided Process Development

It has been noted that diverse results are reported in clinical studies using Aloe vera. This may be explained in part by the observation that researchers commonly do not determine the composition of aloe used in studies and, in particular, the content or molecular weight distribution of acetylated mannan polysaccharides.

Aloecorp is unique in this respect. Researchers using Aloecorp products are provided with extensive analytical characterization of the test material. As a result, consistent results have been published by these researchers.

Most importantly, all Aloecorp products are manufactured by our patented processing method based on the results of our bioactivity guided processing research. The polysaccharide content and molecular weight distribution of every batch of aloe produced by Aloecorp is determined by HPLC size exclusion chromatography

Calcium and the Skin

Calcium plays a critical roll in epidermal cell differentiation, turnover and wound healing. There is some evidence that cell turnover can be up-regulated by increasing calcium availability topically. Calcium has also been shown effective in treating dry skin due to its role in regulating lipid barrier processes. The National Cancer Research Institute has reported that people with low skin calcium experience greater premature aging of the skin and incidence of skin cancer.

Aloe contains approximately 7% calcium by dry weight and this content is thought to play a role in the accelerated wound healing properties of aloe, moisturizing effect and anti-carcinogenic effects. For this reason aloe should be a critical component of cosmetic and cosmeceutical applications such as:

• Stimulation of post-dermabrasion wound healing J Dermatol Surg Oncol 1990

• OTC exfoliation products (wound healing and moisturizing)

• Anti-aging and skin cancer protection
