Bringing Christ to the Nations—and the Nations to the Church
Our Story
Every person has the opportunity to hear the Gospel in an understandable way;
New believers are connected to a faithful Christian community where they can grow in their faith and witness;
All Christians reach out in love to those who don’t yet know the Savior.
Our Vision
Our Priorities
LHM is focused on providing relevant tools and training to help congregations and individuals reach their community with the Gospel. God has always called this ministry to embolden the laity to share God’s Word in their daily lives.
LHM’s media outreach makes use of radio, video, online, and print to reach a diverse audience with the Good News. We aim to reach people wherever they are through unique strategies and media approaches.
Globally, billions have never heard the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Through expanded radio and online ministry, as well as strategic personal and holistic outreach, LHM will reach millions more with this life-saving message.
LHM will launch online ministries to reach new audiences and walk with them as they learn more about Jesus and the church. By God’s grace, we will bring them to a point where they are ready to go off-line and join a welcoming Christian community.
Lutheran Hour Ministries is a trusted expert in global media that equips and engages a vibrant volunteer base to passionately proclaim the Gospel to more than 125 million people worldwide each week. We do this through ministry efforts such as Bible Correspondence Courses, online outreach training, our THRED digital project, video resources and Bible studies, Daily Devotions and, of course, The Lutheran Hour®. LHM started at the grassroots level as the Lutheran Laymen’s League, a group of 12 laypeople who came together to support the church in word and deed. What began with a few people has become a global movement of tens of thousands of volunteers and supporters. Having just celebrated 100 years of mission and ministry, we are excited to see how God will continue to use LHM in the next century.

Our Impact
How do you share the Gospel with people who aren’t being reached through traditional channels? The truth is
that most Christian Gospel outreach takes place in areas where Jesus is already widely known—even where there
are well-established church bodies. Meanwhile, three billion of the world’s more than seven billion people are not
acquainted with the Gospel of Jesus—including millions in more than 500 people groups that have never even
heard of Jesus. In order to spread the Good News of Jesus Christ on this global scale, LHM employs local staff and
volunteers in over 30 locations around the world to develop culturally-relevant ministries to reach the unchurched
in more than 50 countries on six continents. Around the world, we strive to equip churches and laypeople with the
resources they need to share the Gospel in their families, communities, and world.
