CLIMATE CHANGE PROPOSED BY

BUT THIS IS NOT POSSIBLE, FORWE ARE BURNING COAL,OIL, WOOD, EVEN TRASH

WHOLE PLANETAPPEARS TO BE ON FIRE

Slides 1&2 - Name of proposer and in`troduction statig that we are BURNING ALL TYPES OF FUELs as if there is no tomorrow. So much so, many a concerned people feel thst the Plant is on fire.

These suggestions are applicable for LOCAL as well as for GLOBAL use.

We seem to have forgotten the importance of FREE SERVICE the Environment is providing us. We are cutting down the forests. We have we decided on area required for a family of 4, or number of people who can live comfortably on this planet. Every day there is more and more of pollution.

Just because estimates indicate that there is enough fuel to last for another 100 or 200 years, does it mean mean that we have to burn all and get suffocated and get killed along with other organisms of the planet ?.

We are living because these organisms are there recycling the essential materials, that too at no cost to our economy

• ENVIRONMENT IS VERY ESSENTIAL FOR US, WITHOUT WHICH WE CAN NOT SURVIVE.

• TO HAVE A SELF SUSTAINING ENVIRONMENT WE NEED ALL THE ORGANISMS ON THIS PLANET. IF THEY SURVIVE THEN MATERIAL CYCLE WILL BE NORMAL.

• BUT WE HAVE FORGOTTEN THIS.

CONTROL EVER GROWING POPULATION

Control of pupulation growth should be the priority of any Government.

We should be able to reduce population to say just ONE Billion, for the WORLD, by the end of the century.

My suggestion and prayer os for Women of the World. In the past they have played an important role in drawing the attention of people to maladies of Pesticides and the like.

I now propose that they decide to have only one child in their lifetime irrespective of caste, creed, or number of time they get married.

Their progeny will be richer and happier.

SO WHAT TO DO

• Increase ENERGY EFFICIENCY, IN PRODUCTION DISTRIBUTION & USE,

• DEMAND SIDE MANAGEMENT,

• USE ELECTRIC VEHICLES,

• INTRODUCE MUSCLE POWERED VEHICLES

• ALTERNATE ENERGY LIKE SOLAR AND WIND

• HARNESSING ENERGY FROM OCEAN

• WE ARE GENERATING ABOUT 233,999 MWS OF POWER, LOOSING NEARLY 35% OF IT through T&D losses. Even if we save 20% by decreasing the losses, it is as good as generating 46,799 MWs

POT WITH A HOLE CAN NEVER BE FILLED

One can never even think of filling a pot with a big HOLE !

At present our country has installed capacity of 229,799 MWs, but loosing more than 35% through T&D and other losses. If we save even 20% of this loss, it would be as good as generaring 46,799 MWsof power.

Our country is importing 830,000 barrals of Oil per day !

It is high time we switch over to Electric vehicles.

THIS MEANS MITIGATING MILLIONS OF TONS OF CO2,and other pollutants as well.

Many types of Electrial vehicles are already available. Big vehicles like Electric Trains !

I too tried to design one, in fact this led me to think of a better and more reliable source of energy for such electric vehicle.

That is how I thought of harnessing energy from Ocean, which can provide huge amount of electric power to sustain lot more activities of the Nation.

If we run Electric vehicles we can preventmillions of tonsof CO2 from entering atmosphere.

INTRODUCE MUSCLE POWERED VEHICLES & DEVICES

• (IMAGES OF CYCLE AND ZEM VEHICLES)MUSCLE powered vehicles or devices are not new, like cycle, wet or dry grinders, and the like, but we have forgotten them. We need to reintoroduce them again, Cycles, Transistor, Laptops, and now newer Vegetable cutters. Now we have ZEMs, Zero Emission Machines, from Germany (larger image).

Use of these devices will also save lot of Green House gases

We are already using Solar and Wind power generators in our Country, may be even Off Shore Wind Farms. We need to use THERMAL Solar generators too, like concentrators - Tower concentrators as well as Parabolic Trough systems. Our villages are becoming old age homes, so farmers are constrained to use machinery for agriculture. Each village can have a Solar Chimney, like 1 to 2 MWs. They can then use Electric Farm Machinery and also earn some funds too by selling extra power to Grid.

WIND AND SOLAR

One MW solar generator can prevent huge amount of Greenhouse gasesfrom entering our fragile atmosphere.

Solar Cookers, Water Heaters have been in vogue for past several years, Govt of India too promoted Box Type cookers. But there are many other types of Solar cookers, some of which can be made at home for less than Rs.100/-. I feel that that millions of such cookers can be made from MUD, by lady or prefarably with the help of village potters. Such units made in villages can be sold in towns to augment income. Solar cooker like Balcony cooker designed by an Indian Professor, can be used by people living in multistoried buildings as well. These apart from sola water heaters, dryers etc.

SOLAR COOKERS

I WANT TO SEE THEM MADE FROM MUDSO THAT THEY CAN BE MADE IN VILLAGERS AND CAN EARN SOME LIVELYHOOD

It has been estimated that just ONE solar cooker can inhibit 4.2 tons of CO2 per year. One can easily calcualate amount of such gases prevented from getting into our environment if even one to two million people use solar cookers.

HARNESS ENERGY FROM OCEAN

MY SYSTEM CAN GENERATE GRID INTERACTIVE POWER AT OVER 80% OF INSTALLED CAPACITY ON ALL 365 DAYS. AT PRESENT ONE AND THE ONLY ALTERNATE ENERGY SYSTEM

WHICH CAN CLAIM THIS KIND OF EFFICIENCY.

The Ocean offers better options, waves and movement of water in the Ocean are indeed combined action of Sun, Moon, wind and movement of Earth.

Solar and Wind generators are becoming popular no doubt, but they can never replace Base line power systems like Coal or Nuclear, because their yearly production efficiency is juat around 19 to 20 % only.

The tides have predictable periodicity of 6 hrs, and the medium, the water is dense.

The system I have evolved to harness Energy from Ocean, takes all these subtle factors into consideration and also stores energy in reservoirs, hence can assure production of Grid interactive power at Grid parity rates at over 80% production of installed capacity on 24x7 basis on all 365 days of the year.

This system dubbed as 'Bhagiratha' is just waiting to get launched all over the World to generate millions of MWs of power, eliminating practically all GHS in

just abot 15 - 20 years.

Even if we use 25% of our 7500 km of cost is used, we cangenerate 3 million MWs of power!.

All these and more of remidial measures have to be taken on a

war footings, to avoid any major devastations on the planet.

IF WE DO NOT HEED TO THIS STRATEGY THEN THE CIVILIZATION WILL JUST VANISH ALONG WITH THE OTHER LIFE FORMS OF THIS PLANET

BRIEF BIODATA

I, am a Biologist by training and has now retired as Prof. Zoology, on superannuation in 2002.

Concern for ever deteriorating Environment, turned my attention to use and polularizastion of Alternate Energy. This was in 1980, at that time I chose Solar Cookers. Cooking has become esential part of a family and also cause of domestic pollution and denudation of forests. Although the Solar cookers have not become popular, my web page has won me an acclaim as an expert on the cooker.

Some 10 years ago, looking at the pollution caused by vehicles, I started working on simple Solar Powered Vehicles, which would run on Solar as well as fossil fuel, but realized that this would mean much more Electric power than what we are using now, and thus started searching for alternate sources for electric power.

This made me realize that all the present day Alternate Energy systems, Solar Wind etc, or even some of the Ocean energy harnessing systems will not be in a position to meet the ever growing demands of the modern society. Solar, Wind or for that matter even the conventional Hydroelectric generation were only 19,22 and 45% efficient respectively.

All these realizations led me to configure a system to harness enegy from Ocean, which can generte Grid interactive power at Grid parity on all 365 days of the year at over 80% of installed capacity, which means the system would be as good as a Base load plant, that too without causing any pollution !. Iam now waiting for funds for further development and launch of the system Globally.
