Making your First Commun- ion, receiving for the first time, is a big deal! I remember my own, remembering both the nerves and the excitement. I’ve talked before about the Lamingtons which I now associate with every- thing special. They were a huge hit in my mind of that day. All the elements of the day go togeth- er to make it something that we remember throughout our lives. These young people joining us at the Altar for the first time will be no different. They have prepared well, have been generous it learning and praying, and have taken our process seriously. I know their parents are proud of them and we should be well proud of them too. Congratulations young people on cele- brating with us this next step in your journey of faith. This weekend we mark the Perpetual Day of Remembrance and host the Lina Project. Bishop Bill will be with us on Sunday night as part of the Lina Project. At each Mass we will acknowledge in a small but significant way our sorrow as a Church in the Diocese of Maitland Newcastle the sin of Clerical Sexual abuse of minors and vulnerable adults. We atone for those days where we clearly did not protect those we should have, remaining silent at times or unbelieving at other times to the voices of those ‘crying out in pain and suffering’. You are invited this weekend as al- ways to pray for those who have been abused, to make a personal pledge to never remain silent in the face of abuse and to be supportive of those who have been hurt by this sin. When one hurts we all hurt! If you are able to attend the Lina Project at 6.30pm it is not too late to come along and stand in solidarity with our Community and the community of the Diocese to make sure this never happens again. You will have received also our Safeguarding commitment via email. There are hard copies again available in the Church. It is a work in progress but I would like after this weekend to place it in draft form on our webpage. Should you have any further thoughts or comments or indeed in the future feel something should be added or removed I would appreciate your contact. If you have a thought too on how we might make this a more living document and in some way make it a part of our renewals I would love also to hear from you. When I return from Pilgrimage I would like to hold a workshop to discuss some ways forward in this important matter. One person has already suggested a statement that we, at the beginning of our Church year, read out and affirm. It has merit I think. I also offer to you this weekend our Financial Statement for the year ended June 2019. Our Par- ish Finance Committee have worked hard this and previous years to put us in a solid position. You will know I am sure how much work they have put in during the reno. They are to be con- gratulated on their efforts! You are to be commended as well on your generosity with our Giving. We are nothing without you!!! Kind regards, Greg Parish Priest Perpetual Day of Remembrance

Dear Parish Family,

We welcome and congratulate our first Eucharist cohort for 2019. Making your First Commun-ion, receiving for the first time, is a big deal! I remember my own, remembering both the nerves and the excitement. I’ve talked before about the Lamingtons which I now associate with every-thing special. They were a huge hit in my mind of that day. All the elements of the day go togeth-er to make it something that we remember throughout our lives. These young people joining us at the Altar for the first time will be no different. They have prepared well, have been generous it learning and praying, and have taken our process seriously. I know their parents are proud of them and we should be well proud of them too. Congratulations young people on cele-brating with us this next step in your journey of faith.

You are invited this weekend as al-ways to pray for those who have been abused, to make a personal pledge to never remain silent in the face of abuse and to be supportive of those who have been hurt by this sin. When one hurts we all hurt! You will have received also our Safeguarding commitment via email. There are hard copies again available in the Church. It is a work in progress but I would like after this weekend to place it in draft form on our webpage.

Our Par-ish Finance Committee have worked hard this and previous years to put us in a solid position. You will know I am sure how much work they have put in during the reno. They are to be con-gratulated on their efforts! You are to be commended as well on your generosity with our Giving. Unplanned is to be screened on Wednesday 16th October it is the inspiring true story of one woman’s

journey of transformation.

All Abby Johnson ever wanted to do was help women. As one of the youngest Planned Parenthood clinic directors in the nation, she was in-volved in upwards of 22,000 abortions and counseled countless women about their reproductive choices. Her passion surrounding a woman’s right to choose even led her to become a s p o k e s p e r s o n f o r P l a n n e d Parenthood, fighting to enact legisla-tion for the cause she so deeply be-lieved in. Until the day she saw some-

thing that changed everything.
