Summer is a good time for fun, relaxation, and vacation. Let it also be a time

to continue your spiritual journey. Worship, Bible study, prayer, and mission

opportunities will, of course, continue throughout the summer on Sundays,

Wednesdays, and as scheduled. If you are not part of a Sunday School class,

the FBC Breakfast Club on June 2 will be a great opportunity to learn about

our Bible study options. Read a book and join us for FBC Book Club on

June 16, July 14, and August 4, and walk the Labyrinth in a unique prayer

experience on June 30.

FBC BREAKFAST CLUB June 2, 9:30 a.m.

ALL Sunday School classes and

EVERYONE, whether or not you are

in a Sunday School class, are invited

to join us for a BIG BREAKFAST

on Sunday, June 2, at 9:30. Please

see the front cover for the morning

schedule that day. Come CONNECT with us!

LABYRINTH WALK June 30, 6:30 p.m.

The Labyrinth Walk is an ancient spiritual formation expe-

rience that takes you on an inward and outward journey in

prayer. Join us Sunday, June 30, 6:30 p.m., at Dolly Gra-

ham Park (225 River Street at the east end of Second

Street) for our first FBC Labyrinth Walk. After an intro-

duction to the Labyrinth Walk, you may walk the Laby-

rinth at your own pace.

You may not have heard of this park in the heart of Frank-

fort. It has a small wooded area with native flowers and

plants (the “Fantasy Forest” and “Pollinator Paradise Is-

land”), a garden, playground, and a picnic area. Drinks and

snacks will be provided.

FBC BOOK CLUB June 16, 4:00 p.m.

Everyone is invited to join our new

FBC Book Club! Each month, we’ll

enjoy great discussion along with

some pie and coffee (or tea!).

Our first book is The Road Back to

You: An Enneagram Journey to Self-

Discovery by Ian Morgan Cron and Suzanne Stabile. This

book would make a great introduction to Enneagrams for any

who are thinking about joining the twelve session Enneagram

study that Cynthia Insko will lead in the Fall or those who are

simply wanting to understand more about the Enneagram.

Copies of the book are available in the church office for

$15. Sign up on the bulletin board and join this month’s dis-

cussion!

About the Book: What you don’t know about yourself can

hurt you and your relationships―and maybe even how you

make your way in the world. It can also keep you in the shal-

lows with God.

The Enneagram is an ancient personality type system

with an uncanny accuracy in describing how human beings

are wired, both positively and negatively. The Road Back to

You forges a unique approach―a practical, comprehensive

way of accessing Enneagram wisdom and exploring its con-

nections with Christian spirituality for a deeper knowledge of

God and of ourselves.

Funny and filled with stories, this book allows you to

understand more about each of the Enneagram types. Begin-

ning with changes you can start making today, the wisdom of

the Enneagram can help you get on the road that will take you

further along into who you really are―leading you into places

of spiritual discovery you would never have found on your

own.

Thank you for sharing on our FBC

Connect wall your responses to the

reflection questions during the

season of Lent. These responses

have been compiled and will be available in your Sunday

School class rooms and on the church entrance tables. We

hope that you will take a look at these and learn from the

insights of our FBC members.

The Barnabas Group

What a beautiful day for a picnic! About 20 members of The Barnabas Group had a wonderful time of

food and fellowship on May 16 at the Game Farm. Check out some photos from our recent events on

The Barnabas Group page or our church website: fbcfrankfort.info/ministries/the-55-adult-group/.

Take me out to the ballgame! On June 11 we’re going to watch the Lexington Legends

"Play Ball". Please sign up on the church bulletin board. Tickets are $11 and your payment is due to the church

by the registration deadline of June 2. It is 25 cent hot dog night, so you can plan on supper at the park (there are

other food options, too). The church bus will leave from the Elder-Beerman parking lot in Franklin Square

Shopping Center at 5:30.

Our Christmas-In-July party is July 13 at Doug and Mona's house. Get it on your calendar now!

If you have any questions or suggestions, please contact me at [email protected].

First Friday Family Fun Night at Lakeview Park

Our “first” First Friday Family Fun Night will be June 7. The

entire church family is invited to come share an evening of fellowship

from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

We have the Robinson Pavilion reserved at Lakeview Park. The

Robinson Pavilion is the new, smaller pavilion behind the main Hancock

pavilion, but is still close enough to the playground and splash pad for the kids to enjoy both. We will have other outdoor

games for the kids (and adults) to play.

The church will be providing pizza and water bottles. If you would like to bring a dessert to share, that would be won-

derful. We will have a sign-up sheet on the landing to help us get a general idea of how many people to expect.

Please keep an eye out for more information to come about our “second” First Friday Family Fun Night on July 5.

Congratulations to the FBC Children

A huge “congratulations” to all the children of FBC for leading in worship on Children’s Day!!

I could not be more proud of each and every one of these children. They took their responsibility for leading worship

seriously. They worked very hard to ensure they knew their parts. They spoke and sang clearly, slowly, and loudly so all

could hear and be blessed by their songs, scripture, and retelling of the story of Creation.

As I have said before, these children are fearless. They are willing to get out in front of people and tell the stories of

our faith. I’m not certain that I would have been willing to do that at their age. I have no doubts these children will grow up

to be wonderful leaders in the Church.

Great job!!!

Thank You to our Teachers and Volunteers

I would like to send out a special “Thank You” to all of our teachers and volunteers who have worked tirelessly over

the last year to lead the children of our church.

I saw a t-shirt slogan the other day that read “I teach Sunday School. What’s your Superpower?” You could substi-

tute in “Godly Play”, “Missions”, or “volunteer in Children’s Ministry” and it would apply to all of you. Your superpower is

amazing and appreciated by the entire church. Without strong, dedicated and loving adults willing to be mentors, our children

would be lost.

Know that the love, attention, and teaching you provide to the children of our church is invaluable. These actions will

provide the firm foundation on which our children will build their spiritual life as adults.

Thank you so much for shining the light of Christ through your actions to show each child God loves them just as they

are.

~Jenny

Hello, church!

Hope all’s going well as summer is underway for the

season!

For this month, the youth will be involved in several

different endeavors. On June 2, we will be having a

movie night at the Johnson’s to kick off the summer

season. We’ll start at 8:30 p.m. with s’mores around

a campfire, watch a movie outdoors, and relish be-

ing out of school until 11:00 p.m. From June 16-21, we will be at Averett University

in Danville, VA, for Passport Missions camp. We would greatly appreciate and cov-

et your prayers for all those involved with the camp!

In Sunday school, we’ll be discussing “The Body of Poetry and Psalms”.

We’ll also attempt to look into Dave Ramsey’s Financial Peace University for teen-

agers and how to manage money.

As a friendly reminder, we will not be meeting on Wednesday evenings for

the duration of summer. However, there may be times when we gather together for

ice cream and Chic-Fil-A so be on the lookout for more information!

Likewise, as always, if you’re interested or willing to help serve our youth-

whether it’s through Sunday school discussions or chaperoning events, please con-

tact me and I’ll get you plugged in!

Peace be with you!

~Marcus

This past Sunday we celebrated Linda

McKinley’s 50th anniversary as our church or-

ganist. In researching her starting date, I found

she was hired as interim organist, and I hadn’t

been able to find where the church ever changed

the title to permanent organist. I shared that hu-

morous tidbit on Sunday but spent some time thinking about it the rest of Sunday.

The fact is, all of us are interim. We are all just passing through for a time. Whether

it’s five, ten, fifteen, twenty, or fifty years, we are all just interims. What matters is

what we do in the interim. How many lives do we impact? How have we lived out

the calling of being like Christ? How have we shared our gifts and talents with those

around us?

Reflecting on Linda’s interim, I was moved by the hundreds of individuals she has

impacted. All the music she has played on the organ, all the children’s choirs she has

led, all the students she has taught, all the people she has helped through her therapy

dogs, and so much more! It inspires me to want to do more in my interim. Every day

is a precious gift from God and we are not guaranteed even one. What about you?

How are you impacting lives in your interim? If you need suggestions, our church has

a myriad of ways for you to plug in. Music ministry, clinic, clothes closet, Bible

study teacher, children’s worker, youth ministry, soup kitchen, Emma Quire Mission

Center, and so many more!

Thank you Linda for the 50 years of interim and inspiring me to do more with mine.

~Richard

Pray for our children, youth, and chaperones attend-

ing Passport Camps in June. Pray for travel safety,

fun and fellowship, and growing as children of God!
