1. The high bunUp, up and away! Sweep long hair up into a full bun for pure elegance. This was the favourite hairstyle at the Rafael Cennamo White Couture Bridal Spring 2014 catwalk. Ultra versatile, it complemented every dress style, from princess to Grecian goddess. A top-of-the crown bun adds height, creating a refined silhouette, along the line of your neck down to your shoulders. Canadian actress Emily VanCamp shows how it’s done on the red carpet.

Top styling tip: Draw your hair back into a tight ponytail, then tease the ends before wrapping it into a big bun at the top of your head, and securing with hair pins and hair spray.

Show off elegance: This Art Deco-style hairband with square and baguette crystals is a fabulous choice for a vintage bridal style. It sits close to your head, with the rest of the hairband concealed by ribbon complementing your hair colour. The sparkle hugs your hair, for a polished finishing touch.

2. The low ponyWant your hair swept back, but not in an updo? A low pony tail is the hot new favourite. Right on trend, it’s the top pick of well-loved bridal designers. Romona Keveza’s catwalk models showed off effortless glamour with a low pony tail at the nape of the neck. Added height at the crown is beautifully bridal, with a crystal headband adding definition, and keeping the style in place.

Top styling tip: Blowdry your hair for a little volume, then tease it at the crown for added height and pull it back gently and fasten. A few loose tendrils around your face add softness.

Put on the ritz: Fasten a stunning headpiece at the front of your head to take this look from sleek to breathtaking. Seed pearls and delicate diamantes shine in this intricate vintage-inspired design.

3. The fabulous ‘40sThe oh-so-feminine curled and twisted styles are instantly recognisable - from one of the most popular eras for glam inspiration. American actress January Jones loves to sport a ’40s wave, which is ideal for the red carpet – and the aisle! The Pronovias Bridal Spring 2014 catwalk show paired structured hairstyles with equally refined, exquisite dresses.

Top styling tip: Make a low side parting. Starting an inch from the root, tong your hair all over in the same direction as your parting. This will give the distinctive rippled effect.

Go retro: For a sophisticated evening reception, dot jewel clips through your hair and make a diva-style entrance.

4. The natural waveThis uber pretty style is adored by boho brides whose watchwords are laid-back and lovely. From gentle waves to cool ripples, shimmery tresses are easy and unfussy. Designer Anne Bowen chose models with long glossy locks to showcase her dresses, from simply chic to romantic. A-list devotees who like to let loose include British actresses Ashley Madekwe and Juno Temple.

Top styling tip: Wrap random sections around an iron for a natural look with gentle waves.

Make it luxe: Tuck this seed pearl and crystal-encrusted floral headpiece at one side for eye-catching twinkle, fit for a fairytale mermaid.

5. Va-va-voom volumeIf you’ve got a gorgeous mane and don’t want to tame your tendrils, pump up the volume! Follow Katy Perry’s lead for inspiration on how to rock this look. Whether your style icon is a silver-screen siren or a retro disco queen, curls are a guaranteed formula for show-stopping glamour. Designer Reem Acra would agree. At her Spring 2014 catwalk show, Old-Hollywood, vamp-it-up style was key, with bouncy, tumbling curls.
