Thank you Eli,

My gratitude to the Eli Home, is far beyond any words that can be expressed. Yet I will try.

At a time in my life, when fear ruled every thought in my mind, it was you, Eli, that comforted me.

It is you, Eli, that listened when everything seemed too overwhelming.

It is you, Eli, that held me as I cried when no body else was there.

It is you, Eli, that raised my head up high and told me I was worthy.

It is you, Eli, that showed me dignity is never more than just a prayer away.

I now walk with my head held high, not ashamed, or in fear; but with dignity, self-esteem, and self-respect and just one day at a time.

Lorri, Kim, Katie, Tina, Joanie, Cindy, Jane, Ghislaine, John, Rita, Tiffany, Jessica, Benigna, Heather and even little Kim and Athina. Not to mention all those who work in the background to make Eli happen. You are Eli!

Thank You Eli A letter from an Eli graduate.

Executive Director The Eli Home has experienced a wonderful year of growth in supporters as well as in people we serve. Through Eli’s place-based initiative, ESCRI, East Street Community Renewal Initiative, we have focused on a more broad-based systemic approach of child abuse pre-vention while maintaining our flagship program of sheltering and counseling abused children and their mothers. Using a collaborative method, we have worked to bring together a strong partnership of organizations to provide targeted and concentrated programs and support to the East Street neighborhood, a 3-square mile area, with the goal of improving family conditions from the inside, out; rather than from the outside, in. This coalition currently includes 12 differ-ent agencies. ESCRI seeks to improve the economic condition of low-income households which is so often the root cause of abusive family situations. During 2010, ESCRI has served over 950 unduplicated individuals, which is a significant increase over the 500 that we origi-nally projected for the entire year. The Chapman University economic forecast of fundraising opportunities for non-profit agencies reveals that 2011 will likely mir-ror the difficulties of 2010. Because of your generosity and support, The Eli Home has fared well this year considering that many non-profits have had to endure major downsizing, reduction of services or complete elimination of programs. Just as I have done this past year, I foresee that in 2011, I will continue to lead an outstanding staff in a “spirit of excellence” to be at the forefront of achieving Eli’s mission of breaking the cycle of child abuse. Being the executive director of The Eli Home has never been

just a job. It has been God’s calling for my life and has been an un-

speakable joy since the beginning. With this core belief, every person

and every situation that has come into this ministry has a special

meaning and purpose. So, to every person who may read this, thank

you with all of my heart for your kindness and support for the chil-

dren and mothers of The Eli Home.
