Six mayoral candidates, including one who has dropped out, raised nearly $3.7 million through Thursday, according to re- ports filed with the Denver clerk and re- corder’s office. That is just slightly more than what was raised through April during the record- breaking 2003 election, in which Denver businessman John Hickenlooper beat city Auditor Don Mares in a June runoff. Tuesday is when ballots from the all-mail-in election will be counted. If no candidate gets more than 50 percent of the vote, the top two vote-getters will com- pete in a June 7 runoff. As of Thursday, about 71,000 of the 298,000 ballots mailed out had been re- turned. Former state Sen. Despite a flagging economy and cam-paign fatigue from the contentious 2010general election season, the race for Den-ver mayor is shaping up to be the most ex-pensive on record.

Six mayoral candidates, including onewho has dropped out, raised nearly $3.7million through Thursday, according to re-ports filed with the Denver clerk and re-corder’s office.

That is just slightly more than what wasraised through April during the record-breaking 2003 election, in which Denverbusinessman John Hickenlooper beat cityAuditor Don Mares in a June runoff.
