Delegation Docs: Key to a Quick Escape• A delegation doc is a simple checklist or numbered
procedure that defines how an important or necessary task is performed
• Most delegation docs may be created in roughly the amount of time it takes to perform the task one last time
• Delegation docs can be created by the person doing the delegating, or by the person to whom the task is delegated

“The Last Time” Method of Cloning Yourself• Resolve to perform the task one last time
• Document each step you take with sufficient detail so that someone with little to no knowledge of the function could perform it
• Now have the person to whom the task is being delegated perform the task while you watch. Clarify any areas of confusion in the documentation

• Setting the clock on the company phone system
• Searching for a specific product in ESP or Sage
• Putting together a quote
• Coming up with an intelligent, targeted product recommendation

My Action Plan1. Write down your freedom vision and mindset, including your
ideal day.
2. Read it each morning, before starting work.
3. Take action to implement at least one aspect of it per week.
4. Identify ten primary activities you perform regularly and categorize each according to Stephen Covey’s Urgent/Important Matrix.
5. Identify at least one important but not urgent task to complete or delegate each week.

My Action Plan6. Uncover activities that need not be performed at all and
eliminate them.
7. Determine an important single activity that you will no longer perform and delegate it using the “Last Time” method of delegation.
8. Use the time saved each day to identify another important activity you can delegate using the same method.
9. Create an ongoing list of delegation docs you wish to compile. Allocate time to compose a minimum of at least one per week.
10. Train an employee or family member how to create delegation docs for you, (essentially delegating your delegation!)
