State-of-the-art Forging and Heat Treatment Equipment

Through state-of-the-art forging and heat treatment equipment, BRÜCK® ensures the mechanical pro-perties of our duplex stainless steel forgings. Through the production of near to final shape forgings and rings, we optimize the grain flow and cooling behaviour at quenching. Highest possible cooling rates are ensured by machining close to final dimensions prior to heat treatment and highly effective agitated quenching bathes, specially designed for duplex forgings.

Machining Expertise

Decades of experience in machining duplex stainless steels allow BRÜCK® to perform complex machining operations to tightest tolerances and optimal surface finishes. We have acquired a deep understanding of the residual stresses in duplex forgings and how they affect the machining and achievement of final dimensions.

We strive to deliver your entire forging requirement, be it a rough machined forging, a finish-machined piece, or even a Turn-Key component including welding and assembly. In all cases BRÜCK® guaran-tees that your part will leave our facility in accordance to the bespoke requirements, ready for further processing, assembly or installation.

Duplex and Super Duplex Welding

BRÜCK® has the in-house capabilities and the expertise to weld duplex and super duplex products. Exi-sting, qualified welding processes are GTAW, GMAW and SAW. Retaining the correct material proper-ties within the forged and weld metal not only requires approved weld qualification, but a fundamental understanding of the geometry of the weld, the accessibility and the final machined contours.

Offshore Expertise

BRÜCK® ’s duplex reputation is built upon our Offshore expertise. We have supplied thousands of rings and forgings in duplex and super duplex stainless steel to the Offshore industry. Parts with net weights ranging from 200 kg up to 15.000 kg have been delivered, typically with Classification Society approval and/or NORSOK qualification.

Turnkey Component Assembly and Testing

BRÜCK® ’s support to the Offshore industry does not end with the delivery of fi nish-machined duplex forgings. Since 1999, we have completed Turnkey Projects with Factory Acceptance Testing for assemblies designated for offshore and subsea usage.The material of choice for the assemblies is often duplex and super duplex. Our Turnkey customers benefi t greatly from a partner who understands and controls every step in the duplex manufacturing chain. Our scope of supply does not end with the delivery of the assembly. We assist with installation at the customers ’ site or ship yard and supply the complete documentation in form of Data Record Books ready for the Classifi cation approval.

Our integral view on the entire process chain enables us to optimize each individual operation without sacrificing the quality and within the shortest possible production time of the complete product, or component. NORSOK Qualifications:

BRÜCK® holds qualifications for the following products and wall thicknesses in duplex and super duplex as per NORSOK latest revision, M650 Rev. 4.

Latest Engineering Tools

Providing the best solution to our customers is only possible if processes and materials are understood. Based on BRÜCK® ’s decades of experience, we identify and define the production processes and material analysis thoroughly. Through Finite Element Analysis (FEA) of the hot forming and heat treatment in combination with material simulation software, we gain a deeper insight into the production processes and the effects of alloy chemistry variation. This enables us to adjust production and alloy composition to customer needs and to provide alternative solutions before production has started. The feasibility of thick-wall items can be studied in the Design and Engineering phase of projects, using our proprietary FEA of hot forming and heat treatment/quench technology.

Hydrogen Induced Stress Corrosion Cracking (HISCC)

Following the DNV-RP-F112 fabrication recommendation, BRÜCK® has implemented production process innovations based upon in-house R&D; resulting in improved austenite spacing and thus reduced risk of crack propagation in duplex products exposed to cathodic protection.

Residual Stresses Reduction.

Residual Stress is particularly critical for duplex materials. BRÜCK® have performed R&D on this subject based upon the HISCC phenomena with observations and measurements made at machining of thick-wall forgings. By utilising non-conventional processes, BRÜCK® have developed methods, by which the residual stresses can be reduced, minimising the risk of part deformation at rough and final machining.
