New York, September 19, 2017 BrazilFoundation Launches Collective Fundraising Campaign for 100 Organizations in Brazil On September 13 th , BrazilFoundation launched the "Abrace o Brasil" campaign, an initiative that is calling people around the world to support extraordinary organizations that are transforming communities throughout Brazil. BrazilFoundation aims to mobilize its international network of supporters and raise funds for 100 organizations via an online platform. More than 400 people across the United States, Brazil and Europe people have made donations. In its first week alone, the platform received more than 10,000 hits from people in 56 countries. BrazilFoundation is inviting everyone from today through “Giving Tuesday”, November 28th, 2017, to donate to an organization of his or her choice via the site www.abraceobrasil.org. The BrazilFoundation Board of Directors is underwriting all costs of the campaign, including the technology, communications and promotional materials. 100% of the proceeds will be donated to the donor’s organization of choice (except credit card fees). Despite having one of the largest economies in the world, Brazil’s philanthropic sector is small and lagging behind others in Latin America, (Brazil ranks 91st in the World Giving Index). Philanthropy in Brazil has a lot of potential to develop and it can be a powerful tool to promote opportunities and change the country. Aside from online donations, 500 donation cans will be distributed to children living in the United States, and 300 large donation cans will be available for small businesses in the New York, Newark, Boston, Miami, and more. More than 200 donation cans have already been distributed in the campaign’s first week. Each child is invited to choose an initiative for which they would like to fundraise, planting a seed of philanthropy for the future.
