“Alucinados” (Riding High)

Alucinados (Riding High) is a psychological thriller about a crime that hasbecome common in today’s Rio de Janeiro. The lm takes us into the mostdramatic day in the life of Julia, a housewife who is kidnapped in her armoredcar by Case and Sapeca, two young men from Rio’s slums. What seemsat rst sight to be a con ict between rich and poor turns into a much morecomplex plot linking the characters’ past and present.

to be an act of revelation. It isa lm about Camila’s passionand her effort to support it. It’sabout how her character facesthe abyss, and what she getsfrom it is her strength to exist. Ittries to represent the subject of abandonment in its complexity. Itseeks a character without history, therefore what happens to her, doesn’t really matter. CapturingCamila in her movement is whatreally matters: living in her time, taking responsibility for her

choices, suffering her distress, her contradictions, giving herself. With Camila, we want to look ata brave and complex woman, capable of throwing herself froma cliff and developing from this

journey the support she needsto exist. We want to subtract anyepic meaning from her existence,

and remove any traces of itfrom the lm’s narrative. Thuscreating a time in which the moralcontent doesn’t matter. Moral is

impregnated in the being [not inthe narrative]. Moral blossomsfrom the scars originated inher process of giving herself absolutely, and vertiginously.Camila is radical and consciouslyalone. She has no past anddoesn’t want to know her future.

The only thing that matters is herpath. The act of writing is heridentity. It is a lm about Camila’squest for redemption, obsessivelybuilding and destroying herself.Lonely. Her unconditional quest

is for affection, for intimacy. Thisexistential experience incarnatesher body.
