Culture-Population: 201 Million -Major Ethnic Groups:African, Portuguese, Japanese,Italian,German, and Spanish.

-Main Religion: Catholicism (74%) -Main Language:Portuguese -Education: Literacy rate is 88% among adults - Even though as written in the constitution, that woman should not be discriminated against, they get worse jobs, and less pay than men.

Economic System

- Eight Largest Economy in the World -In the 1980s, agriculture increased=4th largest food exporterNatural resources: Iron ore, manganese, bauxite, nickel, uranium, gemstones, oil, wood, and aluminum.  -Brazil has 14% of the world's renewable fresh water. - Products of Agriculture: coffee, soybeans, sugarcane, cocoa, rice, livestock, corn, oranges, cotton, wheat, and tobacco.

Historical Event 1: IndependenceDate: September 7th, 1822 -Drove out the Portuguese 

-Britain and Portugal recognized Brazilian independence by signing a treaty on August 29, 1825.

Event 2: Formation of a Republic

-The monarchy system dominated Brazil - Slavery was important to Brazil's economy -Monarchy passed laws limiting slavery 

Event 3: Statue of Christ the Redeemer

-The statue stands 39.6 metres (130 feet) tall, weighs 700 tons. -In 1889, the first proposal to build a statue was rejected by the Princess Isabel because when Brazil became a Republic, the laws were mandating to separate the church and state. - The symbolic statue began building in 1926 and finished in 1931.
