Sequentially shifted excitation – SSETM
Mitigate Fluorescence

J.B. Cooper, M. Abdelkader, K.L. Wise, Appl. Spectros. 67, 973–984 (2013).J.B. Cooper, S. Marshall, R. Jones, M. Abdelkader, K.L. Wise, Appl. Optics. 53, 3333–3340 (2014).
SSETM (patented) method generates Raman spectra in true spectral space does not require generation (and subsequent reconstruction) of derivative spectra (SERDS) results in improved signal-to-noise ratio compared to traditional fluorescence rejection methods while
providing instrument-limited bandwidth resolution

Access to the CH stretching range avoids erroneous verification/identification
Examples:
• Discrimination between different polymorphs of a drug
• Contamination of sample with e.g. cyanide (cannot be observed if the Raman shifts ends at 1800cm -1)

IntelliTipTM
Always use the proper measuring tip

IntelliTipTM
The locking mechanism design guarantees
quick and highly reproducible connection/
disconnection of measuring tips.
ID chips prevent to release the Laser unless a
tip is connected.
Even more, if a measuring tip is defined in the
library for a chemical material, BRAVO will
inform the user which measurement tip needs
to be used for the verification.

Enter Username:
hit any letter on the onscreen keyboard (OSK) that is contained in the name you like to enter
Example: hit A and get a list of all names containing A
select the proper entry, or scroll down to find the proper entry, or hit letter next to A to shorten the selection list
Enter Password:
Enter password on OSK
The approach described above will not work!

Sample Verification will guide through the verification procedure and ends up with an
Accepted / Rejected information
Acquire Materials can be used to acquire spectra for building a library
Review Results allows to review formerly measured spectra still being stored on the
BRAVO
Library Management allows to select/deselect library for verification
Settings allows for basic settings like date, time, LCD brightness, etc. (availability depends on user rights)

Material Name:Describes the name of a chemical compound to be analyzed in its packaging (example: Talc in PE bag, Talc in vial), this is a required entry
Batch/Lot# and Container# can be filled in but are not mandatory for proceeding
All information can be entered via the OSK in the above explained manner
or by using the 2D barcode reader which can either be activated on the touchscreen by touching the following icon
or by pressing the barcode button on the BRAVO keypad
Start sample verification workflow by touching sample verification icon

IntelliTipTM now tells which measuring tip needs to be used
To start the verification:
touch the Press to Start icon
or press Laser release button on the BRAVO keypad

Results
it’s clearly visible whether the verification was Accepted or Rejected
derived spectrum and library spectrum can be viewed on Results screen
touching the barcode icon brings back to the first screen
in case of entries on the first screen differ by Container # only, a message will appear stating how many containers had been measured already
Operator
Batch Scan Touching this icon brings back to the first
screen. Material Name and Batch/Lot # are already filled in.
