BRAVDO Merlot 2013

• The grape composition: 100% Merlot• Aging potential: The wine is well balanced and is

ready to drink.  It will reach its peak in 6-9 years.• Aged for 12 months in French oak barrels and a

small number of American - balancing the flavors. The wine is unfiltered.

• Dark purple in color, with gripping tannins and toasty oak, well balanced with cassis, blueberry and black cherry fruits.

• 12000 bottles were produced.

Page 15: BRAVDO Wines

• The 2013 Merlot (Bravdo) was aged for 12 months in a 75/25 mixture of French and American oak (75% used, the rest new). It comes in at 15% alcohol. This is a solidly built Merlot that feels concentrated and sturdy, but not sweet and fruity. If anything, it seemed a bit dense and stolid on opening and it stayed there. It adds some moderate tannic pop on the finish. This should, hopefully, acquire some expressiveness and character as time goes on, but at the moment it is easier to admire than drink. Give it a year or so more in the cellar, at which point it may open up a bit and acquire some character.

BRAVDO Shiraz 2013

• The grape composition: 100%  Shiraz. Mid. August vintage.

• Ripe fruity and floral, dark royal purple,  well integrated tannins, appealing currant, wild berry and plum aromas, together with gentle overlays of spicy chocolate and vanilla.

• Aged for 12 months in oak barrels mainly of French origin and some of American.

• Aging potential: Ready for drinking today and will reach its peak in 6-8 years.

• 6000 bottles were produced.

Page 18: BRAVDO Wines

• The 2013 Shiraz (Bravdo) was aged for 12 months in a 75/25 mixture of French and American oak (75% used). It comes in at 14.5% alcohol. Soft and sexy, with an interesting flavor medley, it finishes with dried beef and a slightly gamey feel on the back end. This is a round and succulent Shiraz that is pretty tasty. I liked it on first taste for that sex appeal and its intriguing flavors, but I was pleased to see it show a little life with air, too. It became fresher and more elegant as time went on. It has enough grip on the finish to linger, too. Overall, this is rather pretty and a nice value. It may not be the best ager, but over the next few years, at the least, this friendly puppy should be completely satisfying.

BRAVDO Coupage 2013

• Composition 40% Cabernet Franc , 33% Shiraz, 27% Cabernet Sauvignon.

• The unique composition of the Coupage expresses the synergy between the three varieties of quality wine. The wine had aged in new oak barrels and has undergone a process of natural shade without filtering. The wine is deep in color and with a long finish. It envelopes the palate with rich fruity aroma, like only BRAVDO can.

• 5400 bottles were produced.

Page 21: BRAVDO Wines

• The 2013 Coupage (Bravdo) is a blend of 40% Cabernet Franc, 33% Shiraz and 27% Cabernet Sauvignon, aged for 12 months in a 70/30 mixture of French and American oak (only 25% new). It comes in at 14.5% alcohol. Another nicely done wine this issue, this blend is more elegant than, say, the Merlot and more complex than the Cabernet (both reviewed this issue). It doesn't have the Cab's bright flavors, to be sure, but it strikes a nice balance in the middle, with a graceful feel, a focused finish and a complex flavor medley laced with hints of herbs and beef. The mid-palate has just average concentration. Dry and serious, not fat and sweet, this understated red should make a great food wine. It will probably do best in the mid-term.

BRAVDO Chardonnay 2016

• The grape composition: 100% Chardonnay.• Aging Potential: The wine is ready to drink. Will

reach its peak in 2-4 years.• Fermented partly on its lees in new French and

American oak and partly in stainless steel.• Deeply golden wine, bursting with layers of figs,

apples, apricots, melon and light cedar oak. Rich, with mineral flavours that linger nicely on the finish.

• 12000 bottles were produced.

Page 23: BRAVDO Wines

• The 2014 Chardonnay (Bravdo) was partly (50%) aged in a 70/30 mixture of French and American oak (only 25% new). The other half of the juice was in stainless steel. It comes in at 15% alcohol. It opens with a touch of caramel, an oak artifact. Then, its nice fruit takes over and it does show some freshness, too, rising above the wood and alcohol. Dense, spicy and rather tasty, this lingers respectably on the finish. I don't think I've seen a Chard from Bravdo that I liked more.

Evaluation BRAVDO Chardonnay

> Winner of Decanter Silver Medal 2012

Mark Squires Review of Chardonnay 2011The 2011 Chardonnay (Bravdo) had a somewhat complicated vinification process: it was fermented in tank until it reached about 9% alcohol and then transferred into a mixture of French and American oak. The net result is a fruity, clean wine that smells more of tank than oak and tastes really good. It is not going to win points for power and it is rather straightforward, but consistent with the style shown by the others here, it is well constructed in its style, wonderfully easy to appreciate, and quite charming. Drink now-2015.Rating 89 points.

BRAVDO Rose 2016

• BRAVDO Rose is made from 100% Merlot grapes.A dry Rose wine characterized by fruity aroma, lingering nicely on the finish. The vineyard underwent cultural managements aimed at enhancing color and flavor and was night harvested at optimal maturity. The must was subjected to controlled skins contact followed by low temperature fermentation. Skins were removed after achieving the desired color and phenolic content,  achieving a well balanced refreshing Rose typical to the traditional BRAVDO wines.

• 5400 bottles were produced.

Landmark 2B 2013

• Landmark  2B is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot cultivated from selected outstanding quality vineyards. The grapes were harvested at full phenolic maturation stage and the fermenting must was enriched with Cabernet Franc skins separated from an early stage of a parallel rose wine preparation.

Alcoholic and malo-lactic fermentation were conducted in temperature controlled stainless steel fermenters. The enriched must resulted in body, aroma and complexity enhancement of the wine. The wine was bottled after 24 months aging in French (75%) and American (25%) oak.

• 4800 bottles were produced.

Page 29: BRAVDO Wines

• The 2012 Landmark 2B (Bravdo) is a blend of 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Franc, aged for 24 months in a 75/25 mixture of French and American oak (75% used, 25% new). It comes in at 15% alcohol. This is a brand I have not seen before and it is the only one where the price spikes a bit. This adds a fair bit of oak, making the texture a touch creamy. It also has more power than some of the other wines here, but after that--the style is pretty much the same: a balanced offering with grip on the finish, reasonable concentration and some flavor. I'm not sure this offers a lot more than the others--it probably does have a bit more aging ability--but if it isn't much better, it is no worse. On the positive side, it is chock full of nice fruit and it finishes with caressing texture. This may yet open up a bit more and improve with some time. Its potential ability to do so is the one reason I would give it a little bit of an edge. Give it another couple of years in the cellar if you can.
