Did you know the City of Santa Monicaoffers rebate programs help to cover a portionof the cost of high-efficiency fixtures and appli-ances?

For example, a Santa Monica resident canreceive up to $4,500 for replacing their lawnwith sustainable landscaping, while businessescan take advantage of rebates for high-effi-

ciency urinals and toilets. Water experts are also available to conduct

free water consultations, during which resi-dents and businesses will learn about theirwater-use habits and how to improve waterconservation practices.

These consultations will also provide edu-cation on technology upgrades and availablerebates.

A new, easy-to-use website at smgov.net/waterhas all the information on how to save water andlearn about water-saving incentives.

Rebate Process Step 1. Fill out the on-line application at

smgov.net/water.Step 2. City staff will verify eligibility and

email a confirmation letter and Installer Guide-lines.

Step 3. After eligibility approval, removeyour lawn and cap/remove the sprinklers.

Step 4. Install climate-appropriate plantsand mulch according to the Installer Guide-lines.

Optional: Install City specified drip

irrigation. Step 5. Email city staff the signed Installer

Guidelines (applicant and installer must sign). Step 6. Schedule a one-time only inspection

with staff and your installer (installer must bepresent to turn on system and fix any issuesduring the inspection in order to receive rebate).If it doesn’t pass this inspection, your rebateapplication is denied and no rebate funding willbe issued.

Step 7. After final approval your check willbe issued within 4-weeks.

The Beach House summer season officiallybegins Saturday, June 6, and continues throughLabor Day (Sept. 7).

Whether lounging at the oceanfront pool orpaddleboarding in the Pacific, there’s plenty ofopportunity for a great day at the beach at this one-of-a-kind public beach house.

New this summer:• Sunset Swim, for ages 18 and up, on the sec-

ond Friday evening in June, July, August and Sep-tember (June 12, July 10, Aug. 14, Sept. 11) from6:30 pm to 9:30 pm.

• Try your hand at Slacklining with varyingheights of lines set up in the sand every Fridayfrom 1 pm to 7 pm.

• Curious about stand-up paddleboarding?Learn the basics at one of the free dryland demos,Saturdays (June 13, June 27, July 7 11, July 25, Aug.8, Aug. 22) at 11 am.

Returning Favorites:• Enjoy some good old fashioned fun at the

third annual Beach House Community Picnic,Thursday, July 23, from 6 pm to 8:30 pm.

• Set sail across the Beach House pool on Sat-urday, Aug. 29, for the Cardboard Yacht Regatta.Teams of two race their cardboard and duct tapeyachts and vie for awards in a variety of categories.Registration is $15 per team.

• Slip into the Rec Room, open daily startingat 11 am, to beat the heat or try your hand at ping-pong and other complimentary games for chil-dren of all ages.

• Every Tuesday evening at 6:30 pm, free“Beach=Culture” events offer a rich variety of out-standing artistry with free concerts, performances,dance halls, and readings. Peak into the past andexplore the Beach House legacy on a free tour ofthe Marion Davies Guest House.

2015 Summer Pool Schedule & Rates: The pool opened Memorial Day weekend,

and will be open May 30-31 from 10 am to 6 pm.

Starting June 6 (through Sept. 7) the pool willbe open daily, Tuesday through Friday, from 10am to 6 pm, and 10 am to 8 pm on Saturday, Sun-day, and Dollar Splash Monday ($1 per person,excluding holidays when regular rates apply andthe pool closes at 6 pm).

Sunset Swim (ages 18 and up) will be held onFridays (June 12, July 10, Aug. 14, and Sept. 11)from 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm.

After Labor Day the pool will be open week-ends through Oct. 4 from 11 am to 5 pm. Poolrates are adults $10, youth (1-17) $4, and seniors (60plus) $5.

Summer hours and beach house grounds willbe open daily from 8:30 am to 8:30 pm includingcourtyards, view deck, splash pad, accessible playarea, and beach courts for volleyball, tennis, andsoccer.

Check out Back on the Beach Café and theBeach Rentals Cart for summer essentials like boo-gie boards, chairs and umbrellas. Families andkids of all ages can enjoy free Monday Fundayactivities from 10 am to 4 pm.

Summer Classes Ocean and pool classesinclude Stand Up Paddleboarding, Semi-PrivateSwim Lessons for youth, and SynchronizedSwimming with the Aqualillies.

Prefer dry land? Check out Beach Volleyballwith co-ed classes for adults and youth, SoccerShots for youth, or Yoga (ages 12 and up) with anocean view. Reservations are never required tovisit the Beach House.

The majority of parking, pool passes, andsome courts, fields and canopies are available on afirst come, first served basis.
