This fictitious novel is based on high-frequencywords in German. It contains a manageable amountof vocabulary and numerous cognates (words that aresimilar in two languages), making it an ideal first readfor beginning language students.

All vocabulary is listed in the glossary at the backof the book. Keep in mind that many words are listedin the glossary more than once, as most appearthroughout the book in various forms and tenses. Brandons Mutter geht, und Brandonnimmt das Handy. Er nimmt das Handyschnell und schaut es mit Horror an!

„Was für ein Problem!”, ruft Bran-don in Panik. Das Handy ist kaputt!

In diesem Moment hört Brandon, dassseine Schwester kommt. Brandon be-kommt Panik. Er wirft das Handy nochmalund hört einen weiteren KNACKS! Katiekommt ins Zimmer und will ‘Sag die Wahr-heit’ anschauen. ‘Sag die Wahrheit’ ist eineQuizshow, Brandons Lieblingsquizshow.

Brandon nimmt den Jolly Rancher®. Ernimmt ihn und ruft: „Mmmmmm!” Bran-don ist glücklich und sieht weiter fern. Erspielt ‘Sag die Wahrheit’ und hört dem Mo-derator zu:
