1940, Magaret Woodrow Wilson, d/o Former President Woodrow, moved to An AASHRAM in Pondicherry.

BIKRAM CHOUDHURY

1946 – born in Calcutta , practices yoga for 4-6 hrs /dayat Ghosh’s College of Physical Education .

At the age of 13 , he won National India Yoga and defended the title of 3 years .

1971 – opened his first studio in Los Angeles, taught 26 asana and 2 breathing exercise .

1979 – first

copyright of his book “ Bikram’s Beginning Yoga Class

“.

1994 - offered intensive

training course which led to rise in his studios .

2002, he patented his

poses.

2003, Bikram had more than 700 studios in 220 countries

2003, Open Source of Yoga Unity(OSYU),

filed suit against him, ended with

working together .

2011, 5000 Bikram’s

studios earned him $5 million

a year estimated

Tara Stiles

born in 1981 and grew up in ILLINIOS

She wanted to become Ballet dancer

Moved to CHICAGO to learn ballet met Ford Modeling Agency and also got introduced to YOGA

2007, Stiles left FORD and began to promote yoga classes out of her apartments and Facebook pages

2008, Stiles opened her own studio in STARLA YOGA in New York

2009, Stiles worked with NISSAN and promoted a video with stiles discussing approaches to exercise

2010, released YOGA/ iPad app, “Authentic Yoga”

Slim Calm Sexy Yoga , her book got published in 2010

2008, HAF found that YOGA JOURNAL

didn’t give credit to HINDUISM

HAF decided to launch “ TAKE BACK YOGA – Bringing to Light Yoga’s Hindu Roots “

Goal was to acknowledge the US devotees the connection between Hinduism and Yoga

March 2011, debate was still going on. Sheetal Shah of HAF said that yoga didn’t originated in Hindus but it was rooted in Hindu philosophy
