Mehboob Reza welcomed all attendees of the IOSH Qatar Branch Meeting and gave attendees a quick introduction, a venue safety briefing, inclusive of some other welfare arrangements.

M. Reza requested the members and guests to share any potential career opportunities in the region of Qatar for the IOSH member and indeed many attendees shared openings publicly.

Mehboob Reza ran through the planned agenda, and welcomed the honorable presenters and volunteers for

Overview of the Presentation 1– By Mr. Venkatesan K (IOSH Qatar Branch Executive Member) “Overview of Sustainability & Rating System in Qatar”

Mr. Venkatesan K presented the topic of “Overview of Sustainability & Rating System in Qatar” and explained the significance of sustainable development i.e. that meets the needs of the present without compromising the

ability of future generations to meet their own needs. He further explained the four pillars of sustainability that are Economic, Social, Cultural, and Environmental.

He also touched the key points of the GSAS framework and development process. Vital take way information was shared in terms how to gain the competency in the sustainability domain and how to obtain the GSAS

certification for the nature of projects in the State of Qatar.

Overview of the Presentation 2– By Mr. Ala’aladeen Al Soukni (IOSH Qatar Branch IPD/CPD Coordinator)

“Beliefs Effecting Health & Safety”

Mr. Ala’aladeen explained benefits of a positive safety culture and as well as the belief & religion that is

confronting health and safety at workplace.

Furthermore our speaker provided an overview of the principles of a positive safety culture and looks at

improving safety culture and behaviour through leadership and worker involvement. It provides some indicators of a positive safety culture and outlines ways of improving safety culture with various religious

references and contexts, as well as describing some of the key elements needed to develop a positive culture.
