3
INTRODUCTION Brain Chip Technology is a technology that involves brain
implants.
Brain Chip Technology implements the brain computer interface.
Brain Gate is a brain implant system or a device that was designed to help those who have lost control of their limbs, or other bodily functions.

6
INVASIVE
Invasive BCIs are implanted directly into the grey matter of the brain during neurosurgery.
Invasive devices produce the highest quality signals of BCI devices but are prone to scar- tissue build-up.
7
SEMI AND NON-INVASIVE
Electrocorticography (ECoG)
Electroencephalography
fMRI = Functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging
Magnetoencephalography (MEG)
8
ANIMAL BCI RESEARCH
During 2000, open loop BCI was implemented.

PROJECTS OF BCI

10
BRAIN GATE
The sensor, which is implanted into the brain, monitors brain activity in the patient and converts the intention of the user into computer commands.
11
HONDA ASIMO CONTROL
Researchers have developed an interface for Honda's Asimo robot that allows individuals to control it simply by thinking.
12
GAMING CONTROL
Gaming control using a
wearable and wireless EEG-
based brain-computer
interface device with novel
dry foam-based sensors.
13
BIONIC EYE
A visual prosthesis, often referred to as a bionic eye, is an experimental visual device intended to restore functional vision in those suffering from partial or total blindness
14
ADVANTAGES
Allow paralyzed people to control prosthetic limbs with their mind.
Allow gamers to control video games with their minds.
Allow a mute person to have their thoughts displayed and spoken by a computer.
Mental Typewriter.
15
DISADVANTAGES
Research is still in beginning stages
The current technology is crude
Electrodes outside of the skull can detect very few electric signals from the brain
Electrodes placed inside the skull create scar tissue in the brain
16
CONCLUSION
Brain Chip Technology is a technology which involves communication based on neural activity generated by the brain.
It gives paralyzed patients greater ability to interact with their environments.
The Brain Gate Neural Interface creates a direct link between a person's brain and a computer, translating neural activity into action.
