    Workflow - Terms and Definitions

    Workflow is

the automation of a business process, in whole or part, during

which documents, information, or tasks are passed from one

participant to another for action, according to a set of procedural

    rules. (WfMC)

    Workflow Management System is

a software system that manages the execution of workflows by

    interpreting process definitions.

The system supports the definition and administration of workflow

schemes as well as the execution and monitoring of workflow

    instances. (WfMC, GI, DIN)
