main food is squid. They also like fish and octopi. Bottlenose dolphins swallow their food hole. They have seven pairs of teeth. Bottlenose dolphins work together to catch their squid. They use their teeth to grab food but not to chew it up. The squid they catch is usually 12 feet long. Baby Bottlenose dolphins get milk from their mother.

live all around the world. Sometimes they live in warmer or tropical water. The others like regular ocean temperature. They usually stay in the center of the ocean, not near the shore.

Danger- Threats

Bottlenose dolphins main threats are fishing nets, water pollution, and mostly humans. They don’t have much defense against these threats. Luckily, they are doing well and surviving in most places.

have a lot of body parts that help them swim fast. Their fin on the top of their back is called the dorsal fin. The tail fin is called a fluke. The side fins steer the dolphin through the water.

They have rounded cone shape teeth. You can tell how old a dolphin is because of how many rings there are on the inner part of it’s teeth. Each ring represents a year.

like fish but are actually mammals. Since they are mammals, they’re warm blooded. This means that their body heat and warmth doesn’t change with the water temperature. Dolphins have a jelly like substance on their eyes that keeps the salt from hurting their eyes. The substance looks like the dolphin is crying.

Daily Life and Habits- Playing Bottlenose dolphins

will play with anything including other animals. They are one of the most playful animals even when grown ups. They sometimes play with the fish they were about to eat when their not hungry anymore.
