By re - pea tedly doubling thc. number of p u l s a t i o n s per second, h i s t a b l e gave a s e r i e s of octaves. A t t h e l 5 t h octhve, t h e v i - b r a t i o n s ceased t o Se audible t o human e a r s . Then come severa l octaves whose a c t i v i t i e s have n o t been d e t e c t e d a s y e t by exo- t e r i o science, although occu l t science knows something about them. The 20th t o 35th ootaves a r e those o f e l e c t r i c i t y . Dr. F. F. Strong has i d e n t i f i e d t h e 35th t o 45th octaves a s those of t h e nerve c u r r e n t s of t h e human body. A s we hear it, sound i s an atmospheric v ib ra t ion . Color, as we perceive it i n nature, i s almost wholly con- f ined t o r e f l e c t e d l i g h t , t o some degree modified by atmos- pher ic d i v i s i o n . Color i s sensed through t h e a c t i v i t y of a s u b t l e r medium than a i r , usual ly termed "ether."

What i s known a s t h e standard p i t c h of t h e sound named "Middle C" i n t h e musical sca le i s t h e e f f e c t produced upon t h e e a r and sound-center i n t h e b r a i n by 256 v i b r a t i o n s of t h e atmosphere per second. This i s a l i t t l e slower, or " f l a t t e r n , than t h e musical p i t c h now i n general use , but t h e t l i g h t varia- t i o n does no t i n t e r f e r e with p r a c t i c a l work.

NOW, i f you double t h e number 256 o f t e n enough, you car ry t h e note "C" up through t h e musical s c a l e t o t h e l i m i t a of hearing. After t h a t , repeated doubling of t h e number of v i b r a t i o n s per second w i l l s t i l l give you a s e r i e s of ' C f s , n

octave a f t e r octave, through t h e unknown plane of v i b r a t i o n s between sound and e l e c t r i c i t y . Continue t h e process of doubling the r a t e of v i b r a t i o n , and you g e t another s e r i e s

But t h e independent investigation^ of Edward Maryon, who worked out t h e c o r r e l a t i o n s from sound t o c o l o r wi th the help of such eminent s c i e n t i s t s a6 Crookes, Becquerel and o thers , made imperative a p a r t i a l d e c l a r a t i o n of t h i s kn ledge a s long ago a s 1920.
