SUMMER TERM HIGH SCHOOL PROGRAMS

Summer Term High School Programs welcome international high school students who seek to experience a college environment in the U.S. while advancing their studies. Programs are residential and range from one to six weeks. bu.edu/summer/highschool

High School Honors offers academically motivated, rising 11th and 12th grade students the opportunity to experience undergraduate life while earning college credit.

• Students study for six weeks, earning 8 college credits (schedule follows Summer Term Session 2 dates)

Academic Immersion (AIM) Introduction to Medicine provides rising 11th

and 12th grade students with the opportunity to explore medicine through a combination of classroom work and experiential learning activities.

• One 3-week session offered (mid-July)

Summer Challenge allows rising 10th, 11th, and 12th grade students to take two academic seminars of their choice while participating in fun social activities.

• Three 2-week sessions offered (one in June and two in July; July sessions can be combined for a 4-week experience)

Summer Preview gives entering 9th and 10th grade students the chance to explore one academic subject of their choice while socializing with peers through planned activities.

• Two 1-week sessions offered in July, which can be combined for a 2-week experience

ADDITIONAL PROGRAMS

The Center for English Language & Orientation Programs (CELOP) offers intensive English-language instruction during the summer. bu.edu/celop

BU’s Fitness & Recreation Center (FitRec) offers recreational courses and two pools, a climbing wall, cardio and strength-training centers, an indoor track, seven courts of gym space, and much more. bu.edu/fitrec

REGISTRATION

• Boston University Summer Term has an open enrollment policy.

• Visiting international students do not need to be formally admitted to BU to register for summer classes.

• International students may request a student visa by registering for two Summer Term courses (8 credits) over six weeks, or enrolling in three courses (12 credits) over twelve weeks.

• Dedicated staff members assist international students throughout the enrollment process.

ENGLISH LANGUAGE REQUIREMENT

TOEFL scores are not required for most summer courses, but summer students are expected to have English-language skills equivalent to the minimum TOEFL scores posted at bu.edu/summer/toefl.
