Entering shopper’s Stop in Ansal Plaza, New Delhi, one encounters anenvironment which appeals to all the senses. The fragrance of perfumes entices customers even before they step inside. Thecolorful counters and displays draw the eyes and the shoppersthrough the shops and aisle of the four story center. Roomy multi-level, filled with distinctive household artifacts, garments, cosmeticsand children’s delights, all wares for the discerning customer. Thesound of music from the Bose business music system rounds out theexceptional surroundings.
Aficionados readily acknowledge the truth behind shoppers’s stop’ssignature line, ‘feel the experience while you shop.’ Shopping in suchan international class environment becomes a truly pleasurableexperience. Bose business music systems contribute tremendouslytowards mak ing this am bience even more fun.
Typically bustling with families, Shopper’s Stop has fairly high levelsof ambient noise-this presented a challenge to Bose when designinga system to provide clear and rich sound regardless of the activitylevel. The solution-uniquely configured Bose business music systemsfor different areas. One system covers the ground, first and part of the second floor. The children’s section gets its own music system. Anadditional Bose system covers the reminder of the space.
The design and installation in Shopper’s stop had to take intoaccount considerable mobility of customers. The placement andaudio levels of the Bose Model 25 loudspeaker used throughoutprovided uniform sound coverage-sound levels do not become louderor fall off as one walks across the floor, but stay at a comfortablelevel.
Promotional schemes and offers are part of today’s retail techniques;hence all Shoppers’ Stop stores introduced in-shop paging, inaddition to the regular background music. It was essential that theannouncements could be made from anywhere in the mall premisesand heard clearly by every customer visiting this multi storeyedshopping mall. Seemingly a reasonable demand, this turned out tobe a challenge for the Bose team when it came to installation.
Rajive Oberoi, Senior Member (Technical Staff) from bose India whosupervised the Shopper’s Stop installation says, “it seems like asmall issue, but we spent several nights camped out here atshopper’s stop mulling over the problem and how to solve it.’ At theNew Delhi Shopper’s Stop. Four floors had to be covered for commonannouncements; transmission. A satisfactory solution was worked outwith two microphones with desired priority levels for the publicaddress requirement – one for the ground and first floor and ano therfor the second and third floor.
