Bootleg Canyon Gravity Racing consists

of 3 full weekends of gravity racing over

three months at the infamous, Bootleg

Canyon in Boulder City, Nevada. Each

race weekend falls on a US Holiday and

will have a Downhill, Enduro and Dual

Slalom race. All the events will kick off

on Friday. All races will be USA Cycling

sanctioned and have an elite USAC

status that will carry points towards the

Gravity Nationals.

History

About Bootleg Canyon Gravity Racing:

Bootleg Canyon Mountain Bike Park is an extensive network of World

Class Downhill and Cross Country mountain bike trails located in Boulder

City, Nevada. The area has been visited by riders from as far away as

Japan and Germany and has been written up in magazines around the

world. The International Mountain Bike Association has certified one of

the XC trails as an Epic Ride, a title given out only 18 times so far.

This vast network of more than 36 miles of trail has been forged through

years of hard work by many good friends and mountain bike lovers from

all over the world; but, there is one man who is largely credited and

whose name the locals utter with the utmost respect: The Trail Master and

Godfather of Bootleg Canyon, Brent Thomson.

After a brush with death and quadruple bypass heart surgery, Brent chose

to ride as a way to get back into shape. The exercise was the initial

motivation, but soon a love for the sport – and an uncanny, natural talent

for finding flow and sculpting trail – blossomed. What you see etched and

carved into Bootleg’s steep and undulating terra is its culmination. In

2009, Brent passes away but his legacy lives on. It lives through each

undulation and berm. It grows through each person’s love of mountain

biking. It is sustained by riders traveling to appreciate what a man’s hands

are capable of accomplishing.

Changes from previous years:

❖ Super D has been changed to Enduro. Three timed runs instead of

one for the same price. ❖ Dual Slalom is now a very relaxed new format that allows for more

non-stop action. ❖ DH ends an hour earlier to accommodate those that travel to the

events. ❖ Our race crew has well over 15 years of experience in hosting

gravity events. ❖ We have successfully hosted over 100 gravity races.

❖ We have assembled a pro team of: announcer, timers, officials, medics, course workers, promoter and marketer. We also have the same trained volunteers back each year to ensure a professional, high end and fun event weekend for the racers, spectators and vendors.

❖ Attracting racers from over 30 states and 5 countries on average. ❖ Averages over 300 pro & amateur racers per event venue &

growing. ❖ No conflicting race dates with fellow race promoter, Donnie Jackson

of the Southridge Series. ❖ Many elite pros have made their Pro debut at these early Bootleg

races. Registration, food vendor and results posting has been moved to the center of the Tech/Expo area for maximum exposure for all sponsors.

❖ A full post event recap will be on Pinkbike the Monday after each event. These events are the largest gathering of mountain bikers at Bootleg Canyon other than Interbike of the past.

Schedule

Friday, February 14

9:00 am: Packet Pick Up/Registration and shuttle service begins for all racers. Open practice all day on all racecourses. (Note All EWS Members will only get one practice run on each stage.)

1:30 pm: Dual Slalom race.

4:00 pm: Last Shuttle goes up for open practice and registration closes.

5:20 pm: Sun sets.

Saturday, February 15

8:00 am: Packet Pick Up & registration opens for DH.

8:00 am: Rider meeting at the registration area for Enduro racers only.

8:30: All Enduro racers (except 6-10 age bracket) are shuttled to the start of stage 1.

9:00 am: Enduro stage 1 begins and goes by categories. (Pros 1st and Category 3 last). (Enduro stage 2 and 3 will be a Show and Go format starting at approx. 9:20 am by the fastest racer). Note. The 6-10 age bracket will start on stage 2 and go after Category 3. The 6-10 age bracket gets a ride to the start of stage 3.

9:45 am: DH Shuttles start.

10:00 am: Enduro stage 1 closes.

10:15 am: Downhill practice begins after we know the last racer is off course.

10:30 am: Enduro stage 3 begins and goes by categories. (Pros 1st and Category 3 last).

11:30 pm: Enduro stage 2 closes.

12:00 pm: Enduro stage 3 closes.

2:30 pm: Enduro race ends.

3:30 pm: Enduro awards ceremony.

4:00 pm: DH Registration closes and last shuttles go up.

5:20 pm: Sun sets.

7:00 pm: Supercross party at the Hoover Dam Lodge.

Sunday, February 16

8:00 am: Registration opens. Shuttle service for open practice begins.

8:45 am: Registration closes.

8:45 am: Rider meeting at the registration area for DH racers, start times posted.

9:45 am: DH start for 6-10 age bracket only.

10:00 am: DH starts for all others (pros go last).

12:30 pm: DH race ends.

1:00 pm: Open Chainless.

2:00 pm: Downhill awards ceremony.

3:00 pm: Last shuttles go up.

5:21 pm Sun sets.

EWS points/Cash Awards

EWS Enduro: * A 4th stage for all EWS racers that will be gnarly.

* If you are an EWS racer, the category you choose while registering will correspond with the matching EWS category when we submit the results. You will get points for the EWS series and USA Cycling as long as you have membership in both. If you sign-up in Pro or Category 1 you will be placed in on of these the corresponding EWS categories. The 6 official EWS categories are Men, U21 Men and Master 40+ Men, Women, U21 Women and Master 35+ Women. ❖ All EWS Enduro racers are allowed one practice run.

❖ All EWS Enduro racers run three stages except for Pro/Open and

Cat. 1 which run 4. EWS memberships are optional, but: ❖ Only EWS Members are eligible to enter an Enduro World Series

race. Non-members and non-qualified members are able to enter the EWS100 and EWS80 events on EWS weekends.

❖ Only EWS Members are eligible to race on a Trophy of Nations Nation’s Team. Non-members and non-qualified members are able to sign up in the Rider Trophy (Solo or Teams).

❖ Only EWS Members are eligible for the Enduro World Series overall titles and associated prize money.

❖ Only EWS Members are eligible for the EWS continental level Series overall titles and associated prize money.

❖ Only EWS Members are eligible to collect EWS Global Ranking points.

❖ Only EWS Members will be added to the EWS Reserve List and offered priority entry for the following season.

❖ EWS members will be seeded for EWS races according to their EWS rank.

❖ EWS Members will be awarded a public rider profile on www.enduroworldseries.com.

❖ EWS Members receive a 10% discount in the EWS Shop.

Registration Made Easy We use the online registration company, Eventbrite. Eventbrite accepts all major credit cards, charges a small service fee and can be found HERE.

❖ When you click on the registration link your very 1st page will ask you

to choose your race. After you choose your race, just Click on the green “Register” button.

❖ After you choose your race(s), you will be brought to this page.

❖ On this page you will fill out your personal information, add

sponsors and the very important EWS license question. Make sure you have an active EWS membership and your number with you when registering and at Packet-Pick up.

❖ Now press the green “Pay Now” button and you will be taken to checkout and be all set upon payment.

Shipping your Bike

The 2 participating hotels are allowing racers to ship their bikes right to their establishments.

❖ The Hoover Dam Lodge is a casino/hotel that many of our guests stay at. All rooms, lobby and restaurants have been completely re-modeled just 5 years ago. This location is approximately 10 minutes from the venue.

❖ The El Rancho Boulder is the other participating motel. This location is in the “Historic” section of Boulder City, privately owned/operated and walking distance to downtown Boulder City’s restaurants and night life. Expect a 5-minute drive to the venue from this location.

Lodging

Boulder City, Nevada is located 23 miles (37 kilometers) from the Las Vegas Strip and is a very different world. For example; Las Vegas is a major city and has a population of nearly 2 million people. Boulder City is a small quaint town with only 15,000 residents and some of the very best mountain biking in the world. The majority of the racers stay in Boulder City at one of the participating hotels or take advantage of the free on-site dry camping right at the venue. We hope you choose to stay in our awesome town as the residents are ready to welcome EWS racers into their businesses. Some businesses will have specials for EWS racers!

Elevation/Weather

Elevation is 2,400 feet at the base (750 meters) and 3,600 feet at the summit (1,100 meters).

Average temps in February are 59 (15c) degrees for a high and 43 (6)

degrees for a low.
